A Magic Way is a Bedrock Edition addon by qduoubp that turns magic into a full system, with more than 100 spells you assemble into your own spell books. Builds cover Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.40 to 1.21.100. It is a Bedrock-only download and does not load on Java Edition.

What it adds

  • Spells sorted by element and attributes, found in the enchantment book group.
  • Spell books that hold a list of spells, limited to spells compatible with that book.
  • Mage and Battlemage armor sets, which can be reinforced with magic power and dyed in a cauldron.
  • Three casting weapons. Wands cast fastest and cost the most souls, staffs cast slowly but cost fewer souls, and spellswords carry their own spells without a book.
  • Three tables. The Learning Station Table unlocks spell recipes, the Spell Binding Table attaches spells to books, and the Magic Reinforcement Table upgrades books and adds magic attributes using lapis lazuli.

How casting works

Hold a spell book in the offhand and a wand, staff or spellsword in the main hand. Hold right click like charging a bow until the casting bar fills. Sneak cancels a spell where cancelling is allowed, and sneak with right click changes spells. Wands alone can fast swap by dragging the camera.

Spell strength depends on your magic attributes, so weak spells usually mean gear that needs upgrading at the Magic Reinforcement Table. The Learning Station Table unlocks more recipes as you stack bookshelves around it, up to 30 for every spell.

Requirements and installation

The newest build (v1.9, for 1.21.90 to 1.21.100) lists UI Queue and Novelty API as optional, while the addon's own page says the pack requires both. The 1.21.40 to 1.21.51 build requires UI Queue. Install both to be safe, since neither has a page here. Import steps are in the Bedrock add-on install guide, and if the pack fails to load, try the add-on troubleshooting guide.

Questions about A Magic Way.

5 questions

How do I use spells in A Magic Way?

Craft a spell book at the Magic Reinforcement Table, create spells at the Learning Station Table, and attach them at the Spell Binding Table. Hold the book in your offhand and a wand, staff or spellsword in your main hand, then hold right click until the casting bar fills.

Which Minecraft versions does A Magic Way support?

Builds are listed for Bedrock 1.21.40 to 1.21.100. The newest build is v1.9 for 1.21.90 to 1.21.100, with separate builds for 1.21.80 and for 1.21.40 to 1.21.51. Pick the file matching your game version.

Does A Magic Way need UI Queue and Novelty API?

The addon's own page says the pack requires both. Build listings show UI Queue as required for 1.21.40 to 1.21.51 and as optional for newer builds. Novelty API is listed as optional on the 1.21.40 to 1.21.51 build and on the 1.21.90 to 1.21.100 build. Installing both avoids missing features.

Can I get every spell without crafting?

Yes. Running /function get_all_spell gives a spell book containing every spell. A wand cannot swap spells with that book, because the list only loops from 1 to 9.

Does A Magic Way work on Java Edition?

No. It is a Bedrock Edition addon and Java Edition cannot load Bedrock add-ons. Java players need a separate mod built for their loader.
