How skins work.
A skin is the texture on your player model: a 64x64 image with a classic (wide arm) or slim variant on Java, and essentially the same format on Bedrock. Skins indexed here are credited to their creators and link to the original source, the same policy as everything else on MinecraftHub.
Changing a skin is free and built into the game. Java accepts uploads through minecraft.net or the launcher's skin tab; Bedrock handles it in the in-game dressing room.
Skin questions.
How do I change my skin on Java Edition?
Open the launcher's skins tab or your profile on minecraft.net, upload the skin PNG, and pick the classic or slim arm model. The change applies everywhere your account plays, including servers.
How do I change my skin on Bedrock?
Open the dressing room from the main menu, choose owned or imported skins, and apply. Custom skins import from an image file on devices that allow it.
Are skins free?
Making or uploading your own skin costs nothing on either edition. Bedrock's Marketplace sells skin packs, but a custom skin is always free.
Do custom skins show in multiplayer?
On Java, yes, everywhere. On Bedrock, custom skins show in most worlds and Realms, though some featured servers restrict players to approved skins.
