Towns and Towers replaces Minecraft Java Edition's repetitive village and pillager outpost generation with biome-specific structures designed to fit their surroundings. Instead of the same oak village appearing in every biome, you get Mediterranean villages in warm climates, Swedish villages in birch forests, and mushroom settlements on isolated islands. The mod runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt, and works across both client and server, supporting versions from 1.18.2 through 1.21.1.

What Towns and Towers Adds

The mod introduces three categories of new structures: biome-matched villages, redesigned pillager outposts, and naval vessels. Villages spawn in birch forests, badlands, mushroom islands, warm Mediterranean biomes, and cold Scandinavian biomes, each using appropriate blocks and architecture. Pillager outposts come in savanna, snowy taiga, forest, desert, and rustic apiary variants, each themed to their environment. On water, villager fleets and pillager galleons generate as multi-ship encounters that loot-hunters and explorers will want to seek out.

  • Biome villages: birch forest, badlands, mushroom island, Mediterranean, Swedish
  • Pillager outposts: savanna tower, snowy taiga tower, forest fortress, desert manor, rustic apiary
  • Naval structures: Villager Fleet and Pillager Galleon
  • All structures integrate with terrain height and local block palettes

How to Install Towns and Towers

  1. 1.Install Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt for your Minecraft version.
  2. 2.Download Cristel Lib from Modrinth and place the jar in your mods folder.
  3. 3.Download Towns and Towers from Modrinth and add it to the same mods folder.
  4. 4.Launch Minecraft. New structures appear only in chunks generated after the mod is active.

Server and Compatibility Notes

Towns and Towers must be installed on the server for structures to generate. Clients can join a modded server without having the mod themselves once structures are already present, but the mod is required server-side for any new chunks to receive the new villages and outposts. Adding the mod to an existing world is safe for unloaded chunks. Removing it after structures have generated may cause chunk inconsistencies in areas that already contain new structures.

Questions about this entry.

  • How do I install Towns and Towers?

Install a compatible mod loader (Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt) for your Minecraft version. Download Cristel Lib from Modrinth, then download Towns and Towers. Place both jars in your mods folder. New structures appear only in chunks generated after the mod is installed.

  • Does Towns and Towers work on multiplayer servers?

Yes. The mod must be installed on the server to generate new structures in fresh chunks. Clients can join without the mod once the server has already generated structures in loaded areas.

  • Does Towns and Towers replace vanilla villages?

It adds biome-specific village variants alongside vanilla structures rather than removing them entirely. New designs appear in freshly generated chunks that have not been loaded before the mod was installed.

  • Which Minecraft versions does Towns and Towers support?

Towns and Towers supports Minecraft Java Edition from 1.18.2 through 1.21.1. The latest release targets 1.21.1 on Fabric and NeoForge. Check the Modrinth page for version-specific files.

  • Is it safe to add Towns and Towers to an existing world?

Adding the mod to an existing world is safe for chunks that have not yet been loaded. Already-generated chunks are not affected. Removing the mod mid-playthrough after new structures have appeared may cause issues in those areas.
