YoFPS is a Chocapic13 Shaders edit for Minecraft Java Edition, built for Iris and OptiFine and aimed at low-end PCs that need extra frame rate. It trims Chocapic13's lighting and bloom down to the essentials, and ships two presets, Low and High, so players can trade a little visual polish for headroom on integrated graphics or aging GPUs. The most recent build is confirmed working through Minecraft 1.19.3; no version has been published for newer releases.

Installing YoFPS with Iris or OptiFine

YoFPS installs the same way as any other Iris or OptiFine shader pack. No extra mods beyond the shader loader itself are required.

  1. 1.Install Iris or OptiFine for a supported Minecraft version, 1.17 through 1.19.3.
  2. 2.Download the YoFPS zip file from the Modrinth project page.
  3. 3.Open the in-game Options menu, go to Video Settings, then Shader Packs.
  4. 4.Click Open Shader Pack Folder and drop the downloaded zip file inside.
  5. 5.Refresh the list, select YoFPS Low or YoFPS High, and click Apply.

Low and High presets

Both YoFPS presets come from the same Chocapic13 base. Low strips lighting and bloom further for the lightest possible frame rate, while High adds a touch more shading and color depth while staying well short of a full-featured pack. Neither preset reworks the vanilla terrain silhouette or adds heavy effects like screen-space reflections, which keeps the pack in the same lightweight lane as Potato Shaders.

Compatibility and version support

  • Pipeline: Iris or OptiFine (required)
  • Platform: Minecraft Java Edition only, not available for Bedrock or MCPE
  • Version range: confirmed working through 1.19.3 on both Iris and OptiFine, no build has been published for a newer release
  • Dependencies: none
  • Server side: unsupported, this is a client-only visual pack

Credit and license terms

YoFPS is an edit of Chocapic13's Shaders, not an original base. It was first built by MLGImposter and is now maintained by NoComment1105, and both the source repository and the pack's own credits point back to Chocapic13. The license attached to the project carries Chocapic13's terms for shared edits: credit has to stay attached, downloads can't carry monetizing links, and any further edit has to keep the same rules in place.

Questions about YoFPS.

5 questions

How do I install YoFPS shaders?

Install Iris or OptiFine for a supported Minecraft version first, then download the YoFPS zip from its Modrinth project page. Open Video Settings in Minecraft, go to Shader Packs, click Open Shader Pack Folder, and drop the zip file inside. Refresh the shader list, select YoFPS Low or High, and click Apply.

Is YoFPS based on Chocapic13's Shaders?

Yes. YoFPS is an edit of Chocapic13's Shaders, not an independent shader pack. It keeps Chocapic13's lighting approach but strips it down for extra frame rate, and both the project's Modrinth listing and its source repository credit Chocapic13 as the base.

Which Minecraft version does YoFPS support?

YoFPS is confirmed working through Minecraft 1.19.3 on both Iris and OptiFine, based on the version files published on its Modrinth page. No build has been released for newer Minecraft versions, so it will not run on a current 26.x install.

Is YoFPS good for low-end PCs?

That is what it is built for. YoFPS is tagged potato and low performance on Modrinth, and it strips Chocapic13's shading down to a minimal lighting and bloom pass so it runs on integrated graphics and older GPUs that struggle with heavier packs.

What is the difference between YoFPS Low and YoFPS High?

Both presets use the same lightweight base. Low cuts lighting and bloom even further for the highest possible frame rate, while High keeps a bit more shading and color depth. Neither adds heavy effects like shadows or reflections.
