Avatar Addon is an avatar addon for Minecraft Bedrock that adds the four bending styles from Avatar: The Last Airbender (also known as The Legend of Aang). GlitchyTurtle spent over two years developing it and has now fully overhauled it. It is Bedrock only.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.21.40 to 26.30.
What it adds
You choose air, water, earth or fire, then control everything through one item, the Bending Scroll. Right-click it (or long press on touch screens) to pick an element, set up your moves and manage abilities. A tutorial screen appears when you spawn in. If it does not show, the addon is not loading.
- Bind moves to hotbar slots 1 to 9, each with its own trigger such as right-click or sneaking.
- Save and load binding presets called Movesets, for example one for combat and one for exploring.
- Spend XP in a skill tree to unlock new abilities, with a description and confirm step for each skill.
- Admin menu settings that can lock the choice of Avatar, or make the element random or final.
Installation
The release is a single .mcaddon file, and opening it with Bedrock imports it. Activate the addon in your world settings before you enter the world. The newest release lists no dependencies or required add-ons, and no experimental toggles are named. Our guide to installing add-ons on Bedrock covers the steps on each platform, and fixing add-ons that do not work helps if the tutorial screen never appears.
Worth knowing
This is a large system with menus, bindings and a skill tree, so expect a learning curve compared with a simple item pack. On multiplayer worlds the admin settings decide whether you can pick your own element, which may leave you with a random or final choice. Support and a community SMP run through the creator's Discord.
Questions about Avatar Addon.
4 questions
How do I install the Avatar addon on Minecraft Bedrock?
Open the .mcaddon file with Minecraft on your device and it imports automatically. Then create or edit a world and activate the addon in the world settings. When you spawn in, a tutorial screen confirms the addon is working.
How do I start bending with the Avatar addon?
Right-click, or long press on a touch screen, the Bending Scroll in your inventory. It opens the menu where you choose an element, bind moves to hotbar slots and manage abilities. On some multiplayer worlds an admin may have locked or randomized the element choice.
What licence does the Avatar addon use?
The GitHub repository for the addon carries a GNU General Public License v3 file, while CurseForge lists no licence for the project. The files are hosted on CurseForge, where GlitchyTurtle publishes the .mcaddon release. Read the licence text in the repository before reusing any of its code.
Does the Avatar addon work on Java Edition?
No. It is a Bedrock Edition add-on packaged as a .mcaddon file, and Java Edition cannot load add-ons of that format. Java players need a different mod made for their platform.
