Mob Catcher is a Bedrock addon from Shadowgamer100k that lets you capture mobs, carry them in a Catcher tool and release them somewhere else. It also moves mob spawners. The addon is Bedrock only, arrives as a .mcaddon file and runs on the Script API.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.21.132 to 26.50.
What it adds
The Catcher has five tiers. A Level 1 tool holds two entities and only catches mobs under 50 HP, while Level 5 handles mobs up to 250 HP. A capture saves the name tag, current health, variant (a villager's profession, for example) and inventory. Every capture damages the tool, and if the mob has more HP than the tool has durability left, the catch fails. Right click or long tap to open storage, which lists each entity's health, name and dimension of origin.
Ability shop
Sneak while holding a Catcher to open the shop. Upgrades cost XP levels and stay on the tool.
- Spawner Hunter (15 levels) picks up a mob spawner, remembers its entity type and lets you place it elsewhere.
- Vampiric Mending (10 levels) repairs the tool by 10 durability per capture.
- Deep Pockets (5 levels) adds 2 storage slots.
- Bio Scanner (8 levels) shows a mob's health and type when you hit it, without damage.
- Essence Extraction (20 levels) lets you sacrifice a stored mob for XP levels.
Crafting and upgrading
- 1.Use shears on white wool or white carpet to get Nano String.
- 2.Craft a Catcher Mesh from 4 slime balls and 5 Nano String.
- 3.Craft the Level 1 Mob Catcher from 2 sticks, 2 leather and 1 Catcher Mesh.
- 4.Craft an Upgrade Core from 5 deepslate, 3 string and 1 cobweb.
To level up, drop the Catcher and an Upgrade Core next to each other on the ground and wait a few seconds. Lightning particles fire, and the tool moves up one tier with its abilities kept. No crafting table is involved.
Installing it
Open the .mcaddon file with Minecraft to import it, then switch on its behavior and resource packs in the world settings. The install guide for Bedrock add-ons covers each platform. The newest file lists no extra requirements.
Questions about Mob Catcher.
4 questions
How do I get Nano String in Mob Catcher?
Use shears on white wool or white carpet. The block breaks down into Nano String instead of dropping itself. You need 5 Nano String, plus 4 slime balls, to craft a Catcher Mesh, which is the main part of the Level 1 Mob Catcher.
How do I upgrade the Catcher to a higher level?
Craft an Upgrade Core from 5 deepslate, 3 string and 1 cobweb. Drop your Catcher and the core on the ground next to each other and wait a few seconds. Lightning particles appear and the tool advances one level, keeping the abilities you bought.
Can Mob Catcher pick up mob spawners?
Yes, after you buy the Spawner Hunter upgrade for 15 XP levels in the Ability Shop. Interact with a spawner and the addon records which entity it holds, such as a zombie, blaze or skeleton. You can then place that spawner anywhere you like.
Does a captured mob keep its name and health?
Yes. A capture stores the name tag, current health, variant such as a villager's profession, and inventory. The storage menu shows each mob's health, name and the dimension it came from. A mob with more HP than the tool's remaining durability cannot be caught.
