Almanac

A small shared-code library that frikinjay's other mods lean on, with one standalone fix for non-stackable items caused by empty tags.

Almanac is a server-side library mod for Fabric, Quilt and NeoForge, built by frikinjay to hold loader-independent code shared across their other mods instead of duplicating it in each one. It has almost nothing to show on its own, aside from one fix, and it needs to sit on the server whenever a dependent mod calls for it.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric and Quilt: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.21 to 26.2 require Fabric API.
  • NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 1.20.4, builds stopped after October 2024. The newest build needs no dependencies.

What Almanac changes

On its own, Almanac barely touches gameplay. Its job is to hold utility code that frikinjay's other projects share, so those mods stay smaller and don't repeat the same logic. The one visible change if installed by itself is a fix for empty tags that previously left certain items unable to stack.

Installation

  • Drop the Almanac jar into the server's mods folder, matching the loader and Minecraft version in use.
  • Check whether the build in use needs Fabric API on Fabric or Quilt, older builds do while the newest one needs nothing extra.
  • Install Almanac alongside any frikinjay mod that lists it as a dependency, in the same mods folder.
  • Follow the general steps in how to install mods on Java Edition if setting up a loader for the first time.

Questions about Almanac.

5 questions

What does Almanac actually do in Minecraft?

By itself, almost nothing visible. It's a shared code library that frikinjay's other mods pull utility functions from, plus one standalone fix that stops certain items from losing their ability to stack when their tags are empty.

Do I need to install Almanac manually?

Only if a mod you're using lists it as a dependency. It's built to sit alongside frikinjay's other mods on a server rather than to be added on its own for any gameplay feature.

Does Almanac need Fabric API?

Some older Fabric and Quilt builds do, while the newest build needs no additional dependencies. Check which build matches your Minecraft version before deciding whether to add Fabric API.

Is there a Forge version of Almanac?

Forge builds exist for Minecraft 1.20.1 through 1.20.4 but development on that loader stopped in October 2024. Current work continues on Fabric, Quilt and NeoForge instead.

Can I run Almanac on a Bedrock server?

No. Almanac is a Java Edition mod built for Fabric, Quilt and NeoForge loaders, and Bedrock Edition cannot load Java mods in any form.
