Building Wands is a Fabric, NeoForge and Forge mod that turns one click into hundreds of placed or removed blocks. Fourteen modes cover rows, fills, circles, spheres, grids, paste and vein mining, with a ghost preview of the result before you commit. It must be installed on both sides for multiplayer.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.16.5 to 26.2. The newest build requires Cloth Config API; some builds for 26.1.2 to 26.2 need no dependencies; some builds for 1.16.5 to 1.21.11 require Cloth Config API, Fabric API and Architectury API; some builds for 1.19 require Cloth Config API and Architectury API.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.2. The newest build requires Cloth Config API; some builds for 26.1.2 to 26.2 need no dependencies; builds for 1.21 to 1.21.11 require Cloth Config API and Architectury API.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.16.5 to 1.20.4. The newest build requires Cloth Config API and Architectury API; some builds for 1.20 to 1.20.1 need no dependencies.
- Quilt: Minecraft 1.19, builds stopped after July 2022. The newest build requires Architectury API.
What the wand modes do
Press V to cycle modes. The preview shows exactly which blocks will change.
- Direction places a single block in 9 directions from a target block.
- Row/Column extends a line of blocks, and X toggles orientation.
- Fill covers the space between two corners with one block or a random mix.
- Area flood-fills connected blocks, and the comma key toggles diagonal spread.
- Circle can be switched to filled with K.
- Paste replays a saved selection, and R rotates it in 90 degree steps.
- Blast destroys blocks with an explosion, and survival players need TNT.
Press U to undo the last operation. Destroying blocks needs a tool in the offhand. In creative any tool works, and in survival the tool has to suit the block, such as an axe for logs or a pickaxe for stone.
Tiers, survival cost and config
Four tiers cap how many blocks one use can affect: Stone 16, Iron 32, Diamond 64 and Netherite 256, all configurable in wands.json. In survival, blocks come from shulker boxes first. An optional XP cost is set with blocks_per_xp, where 0 turns it off.
Installation
Pick the file for your loader, then put it and the libraries it lists in the mods folder. Our Fabric install guide covers the loader setup.
The trade-off is the setup weight. Both sides need the mod and its libraries, and Quilt support stopped after July 2022. The creator notes the Fabric files should work on Quilt.

Does Building Wands work on multiplayer servers?
Yes. The mod is required on both sides, so the host and every player joining need it installed. Pick the file for your loader and add the libraries that file lists in the mods folder. Fabric, NeoForge and Forge each have their own files, and Quilt support stopped after July 2022.
How do I undo a Building Wands placement?
Press U to undo the last operation. The ghost preview shows what a click will change before you commit, so you can check a fill, circle or paste first. Cycle modes with V and adjust orientation with X where a mode supports it.
Why is the Building Wands preview missing with shaders?
Set render_last to true in the config file. That is the fix the creator gives when the preview does not show while a shader pack is active. The preview is the ghost outline of the blocks a click will change, so it is worth fixing before a fill or circle.
How many blocks can a Building Wands wand place?
The limit depends on the tier. Stone allows 16 blocks, Iron 32, Diamond 64 and Netherite 256. All four values can be changed in wands.json. Survival players also pay for the blocks from their inventory, and an optional XP cost can be enabled.
