Nature's Compass adds a single craftable item that finds any biome in your world. Open the compass, pick a biome from a searchable list, and it points you toward the nearest match while showing the distance and direction on screen. It runs on Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge for Minecraft Java, and it needs to be present on both the client and the server.

How to use Nature's Compass

  1. 1.Craft or obtain the Nature's Compass item; the recipe appears in the vanilla recipe book once you hold the materials.
  2. 2.Hold the compass and use it to open the biome selection screen.
  3. 3.Search or scroll to the biome you want, then select it to start the search.
  4. 4.Follow the on-screen name, distance, and direction to reach the nearest matching biome.

Finding modded biomes

Nature's Compass reads every biome registered in your world, so biomes added by worldgen mods show up in the list automatically with no extra setup. If you run large biome packs alongside it, the compass becomes the fastest way to reach a specific new biome instead of wandering. It pairs naturally with mods like Biomes O' Plenty, Oh The Biomes We've Gone, and William Wythers' Overhauled Overworld.

Installation

  1. 1.Install your loader of choice: Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge for your Minecraft version.
  2. 2.Download the matching Nature's Compass jar from the Modrinth page.
  3. 3.Drop the jar into your mods folder. No additional library mods are required.
  4. 4.For multiplayer, install the same jar on the server as well as on every client.

Questions about this entry.

  • How do I install Nature's Compass?

Install Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge for your Minecraft version, download the matching jar from the Modrinth page, and place it in your mods folder. It needs no extra library mods. On a server, add the same jar to the server and to each player's client.

  • Does Nature's Compass work with Fabric?

Yes. Nature's Compass ships Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge builds, so you can run it on any of the three loaders. Pick the jar that matches both your loader and your Minecraft version, and no companion library is required to load it.

  • Can Nature's Compass find modded biomes?

Yes. It scans every biome registered in your world, so biomes added by mods appear in the selection list next to vanilla ones. That makes it a convenient way to track down a specific biome added by a large worldgen pack.

  • Does Nature's Compass work on multiplayer servers?

Yes, as long as the mod is installed on both the server and every client. The biome lookup runs on the server, so a client that connects without the mod, or a server missing it, cannot perform the search.

  • Which Minecraft versions does Nature's Compass support?

It covers a long range of Java versions from 1.16.5 through recent releases, with older builds available back to 1.7.10. Always download the file that matches your exact Minecraft version and loader from the Modrinth page.
