Easy Magic is a Fabric and NeoForge mod for Minecraft Java Edition, covering 1.19 through 26.3 on Fabric and 1.20.4 through 26.3 on NeoForge, and it has to be installed on both client and server. It keeps lapis and the item being enchanted sitting inside the enchanting table after the screen closes, renders them floating around the block, and adds a reroll button that swaps out offered enchantments for a small cost in lapis and experience points rather than levels.
Dependencies per loader
- Fabric builds need Fabric API, Puzzles Lib, and Forge Config API Port.
- NeoForge builds only need Puzzles Lib.
- Older 1.20.4 to 1.21.7 builds on both loaders can optionally use Forge Config Screens for the config menu.
Configuration
How many enchantments preview in the interface, whether blocks without collision boxes count toward bookshelf bonuses, and the bookshelf count needed for maximum level enchantments are all configurable, down from the vanilla 15 bookshelves. The reroll button can be disabled if it clashes with a resource pack, without losing any other functionality. Configuration works in-game through Mod Menu on Fabric, or by editing the toml files in the config folder.
Compatibility and existing worlds
On an existing world, breaking and replacing an enchanting table after installing the mod is enough to make it work with the new item-retention behavior.
Questions about Easy Magic.
5 questions
How do I install Easy Magic
Grab the matching build for your loader and Minecraft version, then install the required dependencies. Fabric needs Fabric API, Puzzles Lib, and Forge Config API Port; NeoForge only needs Puzzles Lib. See the Fabric or NeoForge and NeoForge loader guides for setup steps.
Does Easy Magic work on Forge
Forge builds exist only up to Minecraft 1.20.4 and stopped receiving updates after that point. Current development happens on Fabric and NeoForge only, so Forge users are stuck on the older version range.
Is Easy Magic compatible with Apotheosis or Quark
No. It is explicitly not compatible with Apotheosis or with the matrix enchanter feature from Quark, since both mods rework the same enchanting table interface Easy Magic changes.
Do I need Fabric API to run Easy Magic on NeoForge
No. Fabric API is only required on the Fabric builds. NeoForge builds only depend on Puzzles Lib, which is a lighter dependency chain than the Fabric side needs.
Will Easy Magic work on an existing world
Yes. After adding the mod, break and replace any enchanting tables already placed in the world so they pick up the new item-retention and floating-render behavior.
