Leaves Be Gone

Leaves vanish almost at once after you fell a tree, using vanilla's own decay system instead of extra calculations. It is a server-side mod for Fabric and NeoForge.

The Leaves Be Gone mod makes leaves decay almost instantly once a tree has been cut down. The whole canopy is typically gone within about a second, leaving saplings, sticks and fruit without the clutter. It runs on Fabric and NeoForge (Forge builds have stopped) and has to be installed on the server.

What it changes

Instead of waiting for leaves to fade one by one, you chop the trunk and the canopy clears. The mod hooks into the leaf decay system already in the base game, so it skips the extra calculations that many similar mods perform. That is the core of its performance pitch.

  • Modded leaves work automatically when they use the standard minecraft:leaves tag.
  • Custom trees are supported, even many leaf blocks that do not extend the vanilla leaf class.
  • Decay uses scheduled ticks, so it carries on correctly after chunks unload and reload.
  • An option lets leaves decay even when they connect to different leaf types.

Installation

Put the mod file and each required library in the mods folder of the server, then start it with the matching loader. Fabric needs three libraries, NeoForge needs only Puzzles Lib. The exact list for each loader sits in the section above.

Configuration

Timing is adjustable, both how soon leaves start decaying and how long the process takes. On Fabric, in-game editing needs Mod Menu installed.

The trade-off is the dependency chain, especially on Fabric, which asks for three companion mods, plus a Forge line that has stopped.

Questions about Leaves Be Gone.

4 questions

Does Leaves Be Gone need to be installed on the server?

Yes. Installation is required on the server, and the mod is not supported on the player side alone. Put the mod file and its libraries in the server's mods folder, then start it with the matching Fabric or NeoForge loader for your Minecraft release.

Which mods does Leaves Be Gone need to run?

Fabric needs Fabric API, Puzzles Lib and Forge Config API Port. NeoForge needs only Puzzles Lib. Forge builds have since stopped, and Forge Config Screens is an optional extra on some releases.

Does Leaves Be Gone work with modded trees?

Usually, yes. It supports most modded leaves out of the box through the standard minecraft:leaves tag, and it handles many leaf blocks that do not extend the vanilla leaf class. It works through Minecraft's own leaf decay mechanics rather than its own calculations.

How fast do leaves disappear with this mod?

The canopy is typically gone within about a second after the tree is cut. Both the delay before decay starts and the time the process takes are configurable. On Fabric, in-game settings need Mod Menu installed. Decay uses Minecraft's scheduled tick system, so it continues correctly after chunks unload and reload.
