LIMBO Dimension Datapack is a limbo dimension datapack that adds an atmospheric dimension inspired by the game LIMBO, reachable in survival. It ships as mod files for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and as a plain datapack. The server needs it, while connecting clients may skip it.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Sodium, Cull Leaves, Sodium Extra, Fast Leaves, FerriteCore and LIMBO Dimension Sounds; some builds for 1.21.1 to 1.21.4 require LIMBO Dimension Sounds.
Installing it
- 1.Pick the file for your loader and your Minecraft release, then put it in the mods folder of your Minecraft directory. Launch with that loader's profile.
- 2.Optional: add the LIMBO Dimension Sounds resource pack for music in the dimension.

Getting in and what you find
Start a new world with the Bonus Chest and it holds an Essence of LIMBO, which teleports you in. The same item can turn up in end city chests. To skip the hunt, run /function limbo:tp_to_limbo at any time.
The dimension has 9 biomes, a huge dungeon and plenty of structures, including mysterious huts, ruined camps, a factory, a fort and secret locations. It also has an exit portal and a buildable portal. Loot includes armor, tools and weapons stronger than vanilla, a currency specific to LIMBO, animal spawners and player heads. You can treat it as an endgame extension or start there right away.
Performance and settings
For the intended look, turn shaders off and lower the render distance so fog closes in around you. Sodium works as an optional companion.

How do I get to the Limbo dimension in survival?

Does LIMBO Dimension Datapack work on multiplayer servers?

The project publishes mod files for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. A mod file runs only with the loader it was made for, installed for the same Minecraft release, and goes in the mods folder. The newest build needs no other mods to run.
Why does the Limbo dimension lag?
Tree generation in vanilla is not well optimised, so the datapack can lag older PCs and servers. Fast Leaves with a leaf-culling mod is advised in singleplayer, and pre-generating the world is advised on servers so players do not generate it themselves.
