Deeper Dark is a sculk-covered dimension full of treasure and danger, built for players who want the deep dark to go further. The deeper dark datapack ships alongside mod jars for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. It is required on the server and optional on the client.

Getting in and out
Stand on reinforced deepslate in the portal structure at the center of an ancient city while holding an echo shard. Particles confirm the portal is live, and stepping in carries you to the deeper dark. To leave, find another reinforced deepslate and hold your now-enchanted echo shard. If a warden is nearby, you cannot leave until it despawns or you get far enough away.
What you find inside
- Deeper Dark, the main and most common biome, with blue fog, diamond fossils, sculk traps and ancient villages. All overworld ores spawn here, emerald included.
- Deeper Dark Cavern, a large-cavern take on the main biome whose only structures are ancient fortresses.
- Volcanic Caverns, a basalt-pillar and lava biome with ancient debris and a central lava ravine.
- Amethyst Mines, with calibrated sculk sensors on amethyst blocks and an amethyst mineshaft you can find with a locator compass.
- Deep Oasis, a calm sculk-free biome with hanging vines and sniffer nests.
- Ancient Dark, ringed by an obsidian barrier, where touching sculk starts spawning wardens. Only laboratories stand here.
Beyond the terrain, the datapack adds new loot, unique items and blocks, new enchantments, many advancements and extra game mechanics. Sculk traps hold enchanted books, including one of the first four sculk enchantments.
Installation
- 1.Pick a route. For the mod, match the jar to your loader and Minecraft release, then place it in the mods folder. Setup help is in how to install Fabric or Forge and NeoForge.
- 2.On a multiplayer world, install it on the server.

How do I enter the Deeper Dark dimension?
Stand on reinforced deepslate in the portal structure at the center of an ancient city while holding an echo shard. Particles appear when it works, then you step into the portal. Ancient villages and ancient fortresses can also hold a portal in the center.
How do I leave the Deeper Dark?
Find another reinforced deepslate and hold your now-enchanted echo shard to leave. If a warden is nearby, the exit will not work until it despawns or you move far enough away from it.
Is Deeper Dark a datapack or a mod?
Both. The creator publishes a plain datapack and mod jars for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. The newest release of each, 4.4.1, requires no other mods, and the content is required on the server and optional on the client.
