Minecraft Comes Alive Reborn (MCA Reborn) replaces vanilla villagers with player-like NPCs you can talk to, befriend and marry. It is a rewrite of the original MCA for 1.16.5 and upwards, and ships for Fabric, NeoForge, Quilt and Forge. It must be installed on both the client and the server.

- Fabric: Minecraft 1.16.5 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Fabric API; builds for 1.21.1 to 26.2 require Fabric API; some builds for 1.18.2 to 1.20.4 require Architectury API; some builds for 1.16.5 to 1.20.1 require Architectury API; some builds for 1.18 to 1.19.2 require Fabric API and Architectury API.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21.1 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- Quilt: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 1.20.4. The newest build requires Architectury API, optionally Fabric API and Quilted Fabric API (QFAPI) / Quilt Standard Libraries (QSL); some builds for 1.18.2 to 1.19.2 need no dependencies.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.16.5 to 1.20.2. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Fabric API; some builds for 1.18.2 to 1.20.2 require Architectury API; some builds for 1.16.5 to 1.20.1 require Architectury API; some builds for 1.18 to 1.19.2 require Fabric API and Architectury API.
What changes in villages
Villagers lose the big noses and gain a social layer. Interacting with them builds a relationship, and a high enough relationship lets you marry. It works in single player, on LAN and on SMP, and in multiplayer you can marry other players.
- Talk to villagers, ask them to follow you, set their home and give gifts.
- Children do chores for you: farming, fishing, woodcutting, hunting and mining.
- Children grow up, marry and have children of their own, and the cycle repeats indefinitely.
- Villager genetics and extended village management let you build your way to kingship.
- Defeat the Reaper to bring back fallen villagers.
Installing it
- 1.Install the loader that matches the build you want, following the Java mod install guide if you are new to it.
- 2.Pick the file for your loader and Minecraft release from the Modrinth page.
- 3.Drop it, plus any dependency listed above, into the mods folder.
- 4.Launch with the loader's profile and put the same file on the server.
Compatibility with other mods
MCA is usually compatible with other mods, except where item recognition matters, such as gifting. Resource packs for Farmer's Delight, Atmospheric, Autumity, Berry Good, Buzzier Bees, Environmental, Neopolitan, Upgrade Aquatic and Player2 are already included, so gifts from those mods work without extra setup.

Does MCA Reborn work in multiplayer?
Yes. It works in single player, on LAN and on SMP servers. It has to be installed on both the client and the server, and in multiplayer you can also marry other players, not only villagers.
Can I have children in MCA Reborn?
