What Legacy Nether: Extended works with.
| Platform | Java Edition |
|---|---|
| Loaders | Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Quilt |
| Minecraft versions | 1.21, 1.21.10, 26.1.2 |
| Environment | Client, Server |
Legacy Nether: Extended is a Nether overhaul for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. It is an expansion of the original Legacy Nether mod: the old console-era feel returns, but Netherite, Bastions and the newer biomes stay. It is required on the server and optional on the client.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.1.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it changes
- Bastion Remnants, fortresses and other structures are styled to sit alongside the classic Nether Wastes.
- Crimson Forests, Warped Forests, Soul Sand Valleys and Basalt Deltas still generate, with mob spawning and loot tables tuned toward the console feel.
- Piglins, Hoglins and Striders spawn next to Zombified Piglins, Ghasts, Magma Cubes and Wither Skeletons. Wither Skeletons spawn everywhere.
- Nether Wart generates on Soul Sand in the wild, and Blazes drop 0 to 2 Glowstone Dust.
- Ancient Debris and Netherite progression remain fully supported.
Installation
There are two routes. The mod file for your loader goes in the mods folder (see how to install Java mods if you are new to it). A datapack build is also listed on the project.
- 1.Get the file that matches your loader, or the datapack.
- 2.For the mod, place it in your mods folder and launch with your preferred loader.
- 3.Create a new Nether and explore fresh chunks to see the change.
Multiplayer and pairings
The creator describes it as safe on servers as long as every player has the mod installed. Backports are not planned. For a fuller nostalgia setup, the project suggests Legacy4J, Golden Days by PoeticRainbow, Nostalgic Tweaks by Adrenix and Moderner Beta for terrain. Those are separate projects.
Questions about Legacy Nether: Extended.
4 questions
Does Legacy Nether: Extended keep Netherite and Bastions?
Yes. Unlike the original Legacy Nether, which stripped the dimension back, Extended keeps Ancient Debris and Netherite progression, Bastion Remnants, fortresses and the modern biomes. They are restyled to fit a console-inspired Nether rather than removed.
Will Legacy Nether: Extended change my existing Nether?
No. Chunks that already exist stay as they are. The changes only appear in newly generated terrain, so you need to explore new chunks or reset your Nether to see the full effect.
Does Legacy Nether: Extended work on multiplayer servers?
The server needs it, and the creator says it should be safe on servers as long as all players have the mod installed. The client side is optional according to the project's metadata.
Does Legacy Nether: Extended come as a datapack?
Yes. A datapack build is listed next to the Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt builds, and the newest release of each needs no dependencies. The mod files go in the mods folder of the loader profile you launch with. The project does not describe how the datapack differs from the mod, so check its file notes before choosing.
