| Environment | Client |
Visuality is a client-side Fabric and Quilt mod for Minecraft Java that layers new particle effects onto the vanilla game: crystal sparkles, a burst of particles when a mob takes a hit, custom blob-shaped particles for slimes, and a few environmental touches. It runs entirely on the client, needs Fabric API and Cloth Config API to load, and Fabric builds currently reach game version 26.2.
What Visuality changes
- Crystal sparkle particles around amethyst geode blocks
- A distinct particle burst, plus a floating marker, when a mob takes damage
- Custom blob-shaped particles for slimes
- Assorted environmental particle touches elsewhere in the world
None of this touches gameplay mechanics. It is a cosmetic layer on top of vanilla feedback, aimed at players who want their world to feel more alive without installing a full shader pack.
Installing Visuality on Fabric
- 1.Install Fabric Loader for your target Minecraft version.
- 2.Download Fabric API and Cloth Config API; both are required or Visuality will refuse to load.
- 3.Drop the Visuality jar into your mods folder alongside them.
- 4.Launch the game. No server-side install is needed, since the mod only renders particles on your own client.
Configuration
Settings live in visuality.json inside your config folder. If you'd rather not hand-edit JSON, install Mod Menu and Visuality exposes the same options through a Cloth Config settings screen instead.
Version support across Fabric and Quilt
The two loaders are not on the same track. Fabric builds have kept pace with new releases and reached game version 26.2 as of June 2026. Quilt's most recent build tops out at 1.21.1, published back in July 2024, so anyone on Quilt is working from a build that is well over a year behind Fabric.
A separate project called Visuality: Reforged continues this mod's particle effects under a different developer, DragonsPlusMinecraft, on its own codebase. It isn't an official update to this mod, so its version support and downloads are worth checking independently rather than assuming parity.
Questions about Visuality.
5 questions
What does the Visuality mod add to Minecraft?
Visuality adds a set of extra particle effects on top of vanilla Minecraft Java: crystal sparkles around amethyst, a burst of particles when a mob takes a hit, custom blob-shaped particles for slimes, and a handful of other environmental touches. It changes nothing about gameplay mechanics, only the visual feedback.
Does Visuality need Fabric API?
Yes. Visuality lists Fabric API and Cloth Config API as required dependencies on Modrinth, and it will not load without both installed alongside Fabric Loader in your mods folder.
Can I use Visuality on a multiplayer server?
Visuality is a purely client-side mod, so there is nothing to install on the server. It works the same whether you're playing singleplayer or joining a server that doesn't have it, since the extra particles only render on your own screen.
Does Visuality still support Quilt?
Only up to Minecraft 1.21.1. The most recent Quilt build was published in mid-2024, and every release since has gone to Fabric only. Quilt players should not expect a build past 1.21.1.
What is Visuality Reforged?
Visuality Reforged is a separate, actively maintained continuation of Visuality's particle effects, built by a different developer (DragonsPlusMinecraft) on its own codebase. It is not an official update to PinkGoosik's original Visuality, so treat it as a distinct project with its own version support.
