Inventory Particles is an inventory particles mod by LopyMine, with art from kovrik337. It adds animated particles to items in the inventory screen. It ships for Fabric, NeoForge and Forge, and it only runs on the player's own install, so a multiplayer host does not need it.

What it adds

The effect is purely visual. Since release 2.0.0, items from other mods are handled too. The mod ships config files that define item categories and varieties, then analyses an item, assigns matching particles, recolours them where needed and sets a spawn area. You do not configure anything for this to work. A dust-like family, for example, matches keywords such as powder, sugar, ash and dye, or the c:dusts tag.

Loaders and requirements

  • Fabric covers Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.3. The newest release requires Modrinth projects P7dR8mSH and ffLDUGbm.
  • NeoForge covers Minecraft 1.21.1 to 26.3 and requires Modrinth project ffLDUGbm.
  • Forge covers Minecraft 1.20.1 only and requires Modrinth project ffLDUGbm.
  • Several optional companion mods are listed on every loader. None is needed to start.

Installation

  1. 1.Install the loader that matches your Minecraft release. The guides for Fabric and Forge or NeoForge cover it.
  2. 2.Put the mod file and each required dependency file in the mods folder inside your Minecraft directory (.minecraft/mods by default).
  3. 3.Start Minecraft with the loader's profile and open your inventory. The general steps are in the mod installation guide.

Customising particles

Every particle is data driven, so resource packs and short JSON configs can add new ones. You can change physics (acceleration, braking, impulses), rotation, size, colour, texture, life time in ticks, the items that act as holders, and the spawn area, which is defined by an extra texture. Size, colour and texture can be animated.

Questions about Inventory Particles.

3 questions

Does Inventory Particles work on multiplayer servers?

The mod is visual and runs only on the player's own install. Install it on your side and you can join multiplayer worlds. Hosts do not need it, and it is not supported on dedicated hosts. Other players will not see your particles, since they are drawn locally.

Does Inventory Particles support modded items?

Yes. Since release 2.0.0 the mod generates family particles on its own. Its config files define item categories and varieties, then it assigns particles, recolours them and sets spawn areas for items from other mods. You do not need to set anything up.

Which loaders does Inventory Particles support?

It supports Fabric, NeoForge and Forge. Fabric covers Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.3, NeoForge covers 1.21.1 to 26.3, and Forge covers 1.20.1 only. Each loader needs a required dependency, so check the dependency list before launching.
