YUNG's Bridges adds naturally generated bridges across rivers and ravines in Minecraft Java, with more than 15 biome-specific designs. The mod runs server-side only, so players connecting to a multiplayer server do not need it installed on their client. Fabric and NeoForge builds currently reach 26.1.2; Forge's last release stops at 1.21.1.
What YUNG's Bridges changes
YUNG's Bridges was the first Minecraft mod to add naturally generated bridges to the game. Rather than a loot room or a mob spawner, it is a purely decorative worldgen addition: stone, wood, and biome-matched bridge designs appear spanning rivers and ravines as the world generates, so a birch forest crossing looks different from a desert or savanna one. The mod adds no new items or mechanics, just terrain that makes exploring on foot feel less like walking around every river.
- Over 15 bridge designs, each matched to the biome it generates in
- Generates naturally over rivers and ravines, no player building required
- Purely decorative and connective, no loot chests or new mobs
- Built to run alongside other worldgen mods without conflicts
Installation and required mods
YUNG's Bridges depends on YUNG's API, a shared library used across the YUNG's mod line. Missing it causes a startup error before the world screen appears.
- 1.Download YUNG's Bridges from Modrinth for your loader and Minecraft version
- 2.Download YUNG's API (required; match the same loader and Minecraft version)
- 3.Place both JARs in your mods folder
- 4.Launch the game and check the console for missing dependency errors before loading a world
Loader and version support
Separate JAR files are published for Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge. Fabric and NeoForge both currently reach 26.1.2, released the same day. Forge lags well behind: its most recent build only targets 1.21.1, dated October 2024, so Forge players on newer Minecraft releases are left without an update while Fabric and NeoForge stay current.
Server-only behavior and existing worlds
Bridge generation runs on the server, so players on a multiplayer server do not need this mod on their client to see and cross the new bridges. New bridges only appear in chunks generated after installing the mod. In an existing world, terrain that has already generated keeps its original vanilla rivers and ravines with no bridges added retroactively.
Adding Bridges to Minecraft
Questions about YUNG's Bridges.
5 questions
How do I install YUNG's Bridges?
Download the JAR matching your loader (Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge) and Minecraft version from Modrinth. Also download YUNG's API, which is required for all YUNG's mods. Place both JARs in your mods folder and launch the game. Check the console for missing dependency errors before loading a world.
Does YUNG's Bridges work with Fabric?
Yes. A Fabric build is published on Modrinth alongside the Forge and NeoForge releases, and it currently reaches 26.1.2, the same ceiling as NeoForge. Download the Fabric release matching your Minecraft version and add it to your mods folder along with YUNG's API.
Is YUNG's Bridges client-side or server-side?
Server-side only. The mod runs on the server, or in singleplayer where the game acts as its own server. Players connecting to a multiplayer server do not need this mod on their client to see and cross the naturally generated bridges.
Which Minecraft version does YUNG's Bridges support?
Fabric and NeoForge builds reach 26.1.2, the current release. Forge lags behind: its newest build only targets 1.21.1, published in October 2024, with no update since. Check the Modrinth versions page for the exact loader-and-version combination you need.
Does YUNG's Bridges work with Terralith or other worldgen mods?
It is built to run alongside YUNG's Better Desert Temples, YUNG's Better Ocean Monuments, YUNG's Better Mineshafts, YUNG's Better Strongholds, and Biomes O' Plenty. Terralith's steeper river banks make bridges rarer; raising the mod's spawn-rate setting in the config brings generation back closer to normal.
