SimpleScore turns a plain scoreboard into a fully animated display, showing announcements, player stats and other live information without flicker. It runs on Bukkit, Paper, Spigot, Purpur and Folia installs across MC 1.8 through 26.2, and the newest release (4.3.1, 2026-08-23) needs no extra plugin to work. It only installs on the hosting software; players just join as normal, with nothing extra running on their side.

Main features

  • Lag-free animated display with no flickering, plus support for hiding score numbers
  • Full RGB colour on MC 1.16 and newer installs
  • No character cap on MC 1.13 and newer releases
  • Scoreboards chosen by permissions, conditions, worlds or WorldGuard regions
  • Optional hook into PlaceholderAPI for pulling live data from other plugins
  • Built to sit alongside other plugins that temporarily edit the scoreboard

Installation

Place the file in the plugins folder of a Paper, Spigot, Bukkit, Purpur or Folia install and restart it, since none of the release builds list any extra requirement across MC 1.8 to 26.2. The general steps for placing files and restarting a host are covered in the plugin installation guide. Java 8 or newer is needed to run it.

Compatibility and licensing

Configuration syntax, WorldGuard hooks and its PlaceholderAPI integration are documented on its wiki, alongside a developer API for anyone extending it further. Its code is released under the MIT licence, letting anyone reuse or adapt it as long as the copyright notice stays intact.

Questions about SimpleScore.

5 questions

How do I set up SimpleScore on my host?

Place the plugin file in the plugins folder of a Bukkit, Paper, Spigot, Purpur or Folia install and restart it. No extra plugin is required, since the newest release runs with nothing else installed.

Does SimpleScore work with Folia?

Yes. Folia support spans the same MC 1.8 to 26.2 range as the other four loaders, with the newest release published 2026-08-23 alongside Paper, Spigot, Bukkit and Purpur.

Does SimpleScore need a permissions plugin?

No separate permissions plugin is required. Display selection can be based on permissions, conditions, worlds, or WorldGuard regions, all handled through its own configuration system.

What MC range does SimpleScore cover?

Every loader ladder runs from MC 1.8 up to 26.2, with full RGB colour and no character cap from 1.13 onward; earlier releases keep a 32-character line cap.

Can I modify SimpleScore's code?

Yes. Its code carries an MIT licence from the RuiPereiraDev repository, which permits reuse, modification and redistribution as long as the original copyright notice stays intact.
