AxGraves is a Paper, Spigot, Purpur, Folia, and Bukkit plugin that turns a player's death drops into a lootable grave instead of scattering items across the ground. It is packet-based, so nothing about the grave is written to the world file, and the heavier work runs off the main thread to keep it light on tick time. It needs no other plugin installed to work.
What happens when a player dies
A grave despawns 180 seconds after it spawns by default. Items drop on the ground when it expires unless the admin sets drop-items to false, which removes them instead, or sets despawn-time-seconds to -1 so graves never expire. Any player can open any grave by default, not just its owner, unless the server turns on interact-only-own. Players keep 100% of their XP in the grave out of the box, and shift right-clicking a grave with instant pickup enabled empties it in one action.
Permissions and commands
- axgraves.help - shows the help command, granted by default
- axgraves.list - view your own graves, granted by default
- axgraves.list.other - also list other players' graves, operator only by default
- axgraves.tp - teleport to your own grave, operator only by default
- axgraves.tp.bypass - teleport to any location, operator only by default
- axgraves.reload - reload the config and messages, operator only by default
- axgraves.allowgraves - lets a player create graves at all, granted by default
- axgraves.limit.<number> - overrides the server's default grave limit per player
The base command is /axgraves, with help, list, tp, and reload subcommands, plus the axgrave, graves, and grave aliases.
Configuration
config.yml controls despawn timing, item and XP retention, the per-player grave limit (unlimited by default, or capped and overridden with the limit permission), which worlds graves are disabled in, hologram height, and which death causes skip grave creation entirely. Changes to most settings apply on the next death without a restart.
Supported server software
Bukkit, Paper, Purpur, Folia, and Spigot all ship from the same 1.32.0 build, published September 20, 2026, reaching Minecraft 26.3 with a version floor of 1.18. There is no separate proxy build; AxGraves runs on the backend server, not on Velocity or BungeeCord.
Questions about AxGraves.
5 questions
Does AxGraves work on Folia?
Yes. Folia is one of five supported server platforms, alongside Bukkit, Paper, Purpur, and Spigot. All five ship from the same 1.32.0 build, published September 20, 2026, reaching Minecraft 26.3.
What permissions does AxGraves use?
Core nodes are axgraves.help, axgraves.list, axgraves.tp, axgraves.reload, and axgraves.allowgraves. axgraves.list.other and axgraves.tp.bypass extend those to other players' graves and are operator-only by default. axgraves.limit.<number> overrides a player's grave cap.
Can other players loot my grave?
By default, yes. Any player can open any grave unless the server admin sets interact-only-own to true in the config, which restricts opening to the grave's owner and players with axgraves.admin.
Does AxGraves need another plugin installed?
No. Modrinth lists no required dependencies, and AxGraves works with either the server's built-in permissions or a permissions plugin like LuckPerms without extra setup.
How long do graves last before they disappear?
180 seconds by default, set with despawn-time-seconds in the config. Set it to -1 to stop graves from expiring. When a grave does despawn, its items drop on the ground unless drop-items is turned off, which removes them instead.
