Booxyx Optimized Shader is a semi-realistic shader pack for Java, aimed at low-end and mid-range PCs. It runs on Iris and OptiFine and is a player-side pack, so nothing is installed on a host machine. The aim is livelier colour and softer lighting without a heavy frame-rate cost.
Shader loaders and versions
- Iris and OptiFine: Minecraft 1.21.10 to 26.2.
Effects and look
The pack pushes the vanilla palette toward brighter, more balanced colours, meant to suit survival and PvP worlds alike. It does not rebuild the look of the world. It tidies it.
- Soft block lighting
- Improved sun rays
- Lightweight water reflections
- Vibrant, balanced colours with clean environmental textures
Performance and trade-off
Modrinth tags the pack potato, low and medium, and its description says heavy effects such as volumetric clouds and intensive depth of field are optimized to protect frame rate. Treat that as positioning, not a promise, because results depend on your hardware. The trade-off is fidelity: reflections stay lightweight, so this is a pack for smooth play, not for screenshot work.
Only one release, 1.0.0, exists so far, published in September 2026. It has no dependencies beyond the shader loader.
Installation
- 1.Install Iris on Fabric or NeoForge, or install OptiFine.
- 2.Place the pack's .zip file in the shaderpacks folder.
- 3.Open Video Settings, then Shader Packs, and select Booxyx Optimized Shader.
Questions about Booxyx Optimized Shader.
4 questions
How do I install Booxyx Optimized Shader?
Install Iris on Fabric or NeoForge, or install OptiFine. Put the pack's .zip file in the shaderpacks folder, then open Video Settings and choose Shader Packs. Select Booxyx Optimized Shader from the list and apply it. The pack needs no extra libraries.
Does Booxyx Optimized Shader work with Iris and OptiFine?
Yes. Both loaders have a release for 1.21.10 to 26.2, and neither release requires any further dependency. The pack is used on the player's side only, so a host machine does not need it.
Is Booxyx Optimized Shader good for low-end PCs?
It is built for them. Modrinth tags it potato, low and medium, and its description says heavy effects like volumetric clouds and deep depth of field are optimized. Actual frame rates still depend on your hardware, so no result is promised.
Does Booxyx Optimized Shader work on Bedrock?
No. It is a Java pack that needs Iris or OptiFine, and neither runs on Bedrock. Bedrock uses a different format for visual packs, so this download will not load there.
