Earth Shaders is a bright, realistic shader pack for Java, made by GamesofDev and run through Iris or OptiFine. It aims for warm sunlight, soft shadows and a calm, trailer-like look, and Modrinth files it under the potato performance tier. It is derived from Mellow Shaders.
Shader loaders and versions
- Iris and OptiFine: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.1.2.
What it changes
The pack tunes lighting toward a soft, warm glow so biomes read as lively rather than flat. Mountains fade into light fog, and water stays clear enough to show the terrain beneath while still catching the sky and sun.
- Bloom, a soft glow around light sources and the sun, which can be switched off in the shader settings for a more grounded look.
- Custom colour control, with red, green and blue levels adjustable in settings to set the mood.
- Dynamic fog and depth, adding atmosphere to skylines without hiding what you are doing.
- Reflective, transparent water that reveals underwater terrain.
- Richer shading on grass, foliage and blocks.
Installing the pack
- 1.Install Iris (on Fabric or NeoForge) or OptiFine. The shader install guide covers the steps.
- 2.Place the pack's .zip file in the shaderpacks folder.
- 3.Open Video Settings, choose Shader Packs, and select Earth Shaders.
The pack has no required dependencies on either loader. If it fails to appear or load, the shader troubleshooting guide is the next stop.
Questions about Earth Shaders.
4 questions
Does Earth Shaders work with Iris and OptiFine?
Yes. The pack lists builds for both loaders, covering 1.20 to 26.1.2, and neither build requires another mod. Iris runs on Fabric or NeoForge. Both loaders are Java-only, so the pack does not run on Bedrock.
Is Earth Shaders good for low-end PCs?
Modrinth files it under the potato performance tier, and the creator says it avoids sacrificing performance. That is a listing label rather than a hardware promise, so results still depend on your machine and the settings you choose.
Can I turn off the bloom in Earth Shaders?
Yes. Bloom is fully toggleable in the shader settings, so you can drop the cinematic glow for a more grounded look. The same menu also lets you adjust red, green and blue levels to change the overall tone.
Is Earth Shaders based on another shader pack?
Yes. The creator's page says it is MIT-licensed and based on MellowShaders, with credit to that original project.
