What Vanilla Rebuild works with.
| Platform | Java Edition |
|---|---|
| Loaders | Iris, OptiFine |
| Minecraft versions | 1.19, 1.19.4, 1.20.6, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2 |
Vanilla Rebuild is a vanilla-like shader pack for Minecraft Java that keeps the classic blocky look and improves the light around it. It runs on Iris and OptiFine, and it is described as simple and lightweight. Bedrock cannot run it.
Shader loaders and versions
- Iris and OptiFine: Minecraft 1.19 to 26.2.
What it changes
The aim is vanilla, but prettier. Lighting turns natural, shadows are soft, and the sky gets more depth, with 3D volumetric clouds by day and gentle stars at night that are easy on the eyes.
Each dimension gets its own atmosphere. The Overworld is calm and balanced, the Nether is warm, and the End is mysterious.
Installation
- 1.Install Iris (on Fabric or NeoForge) or OptiFine, following the shader install guide if you have not set one up.
- 2.Place the Vanilla Rebuild .zip in your shaderpacks folder.
- 3.Open Video Settings, then Shader Packs in Iris, and select Vanilla Rebuild.
If the pack does not appear or the screen stays unchanged, work through fixing shaders that do not work.
Origins and trade-offs
Vanilla Rebuild is a modified take on Blocky Shader, and Haider_x credits the original creator, dvimidh. If you want the unmodified starting point, look there first.
Questions about Vanilla Rebuild.
4 questions
How do I install Vanilla Rebuild?
Install Iris or OptiFine, put the Vanilla Rebuild .zip into the shaderpacks folder, then pick it in the shader menu. With Iris, that menu is Video Settings, then Shader Packs. The pack is a single zip, so nothing needs unpacking.
Does Vanilla Rebuild work with Iris and OptiFine?
Yes. Both loaders are listed for the pack, and its newest file requires no extra dependency. Iris runs on Fabric or NeoForge, while OptiFine works on its own. Pick whichever loader your setup already uses.
Can I use Vanilla Rebuild on Bedrock?
No. Vanilla Rebuild is a Java shader pack, and it needs Iris or OptiFine, which are Java mods that Bedrock cannot run. Bedrock uses a different shader format, so this pack will not load there.
Is Vanilla Rebuild the same as Blocky Shader?
No. Vanilla Rebuild is a modified take on Blocky Shader, published by Haider_x with credit to the original creator, dvimidh. They are separate projects by different creators, so check each page for its own details.
