The Abyssal Ascent (End Update) is a Bedrock addon from Sir_Rel that turns the End into a layered dimension of new biomes, structures and mobs. It is Bedrock only, so Java cannot load it, and it needs no experimental toggles. The author's stated aim is the ultimate End update, one that makes you reflect on everything seen on the way to the End.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 26.40.
What it adds
The End gains three base layers. The Void Layer sits at the bottom, with dangerous threats and strong rewards. The Clouded Layer is the highest and holds the least content, but it is the main source of Sapphire Ore and has cloud-themed plants and blocks. Across the End you also find new biomes, including these.
- Endra Forest, a giant wooden mushroom biome.
- Distorted Forest, filled with giant flower trees.
- Arkose Peaks, mountain ranges of Arkose, the End's version of stone.
- Lavender Fields, where cobbled end stone acts like farmland for End crops. The crops only grow in the End.
- Cosmic Frontier, a star-themed biome with Cosmic mobs and Cosmonium.
- Portal Plague, covered in glowing Portal Mold, eyeballs and fossils.
Structures and mobs
Ender Chambers are trial chamber variants with their own gimmicks. The Voided Soul Blacksmith holds the Soul Forge, which handles much of the addon's crafting. At the Void Pope Church, placing an ascendant block on the spawn block summons the Void Pope. Ruined End Portals offer a quick exit to the Overworld.
Dragonfolk barter for Larimar but turn hostile if you wear no End Leather or Molybdenum armor. Snarelings pin you with webs before closing in, and Endersents release a shockwave when they cannot reach you. The rideable Evupul flies at random and cannot be steered. It is used with permission from DeadVoxels' End Update Mod on Modrinth.
How to install The Abyssal Ascent
- 1.Get the .mcaddon file from the CurseForge page and open it with Minecraft so it imports.
- 2.Create or edit a world and switch on the addon's behavior pack and resource pack in the world settings.
- 3.Leave the Experiments toggles alone, since none are required.
If the packs do not appear, the add-on install guide covers the steps and the troubleshooting guide covers common failures.
Questions about The Abyssal Ascent (End Update).
4 questions
Does the Abyssal Ascent addon need experimental toggles?
No. The author states that no experiments are needed, so you can import the pack and enable its behavior and resource packs in a normal world. The one setting warning is that Vibrant Visuals is not compatible, and a render distance of 15 or lower is recommended.
Which Minecraft release does The Abyssal Ascent support?
The newest file, Abyssal_Ascent_v4.1_Hotfix_1.mcaddon, targets Minecraft Bedrock 26.40 and was published on 2026-09-17. It requires no other pack.
Can I use The Abyssal Ascent on Java Edition?
No. It is a Bedrock addon in .mcaddon format, and Java Edition cannot load add-ons. Java players need a different kind of project, so check that a page lists Bedrock before importing anything.
How do I install The Abyssal Ascent on Bedrock?
Open the .mcaddon file with Minecraft on your device so it imports, then turn on both its behavior pack and resource pack in the settings of the world you want to use. No Experiments toggles are required.
