Nico's Mobs

A Bedrock addon from NicoTheKid that fills the world with new vanilla-styled mobs, each with its own abilities and drops. Some can be tamed, others are a real threat.

Nico's Mobs is a Bedrock addon from NicoTheKid that adds new mobs which spawn naturally in the world, along with a handful of new blocks and items. Each mob has its own abilities and loot, and the models are drawn to sit beside vanilla creatures. It runs on Bedrock only, and the newest release lists no required experimental toggles.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.21.60 to 26.40.

What it adds

The pack is a wide roster rather than a single theme. Some mobs can be tamed, others are dangerous, and tamed mobs that can fight now turn on any player who attacks them, unless that player is their owner. Examples from the latest update notes:

  • Lurknash respond to Cooked Moa, Opossums to Cooked Arthropod Meat, and babies have different health and damage from adults.
  • Cobblestone Golems and Mossy Cobblestone Golems swap forms in the wild over one to two minutes. Tamed ones defend you and drop loot.
  • Scarecrows can be tempted with Wheat and equipped with armor, weapons and off-hand items. Cursed Scarecrows pick up gear on their own.
  • Book Curserers summon Cursed Flying Books and can drop a Book of Curses.
  • The Giant Moa carries a chest attachment, and Dire Bats can be bred with meat.

How to install Nico's Mobs

  1. 1.Take the newest build, the Nicos Mobs (v1.15.0).mcaddon file.
  2. 2.Open the file with Bedrock so it imports (double-click on Windows, open with Minecraft on phones and tablets).
  3. 3.Create or edit a world, then switch on the pack under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs.

If the pack does not appear or the mobs do not spawn, the add-on install guide and the troubleshooting guide cover the usual causes.

The trade-off

The roster is large and many mobs carry their own taming rules, drops and behaviors, so expect a learning curve and a changed feel in any world that uses it. The page states nothing about Realms or dedicated servers, so test there before committing a long-running world.
