Better Trades

A behavior pack that makes villager trades cheaper and more logical for each profession, and stocks the wandering trader with rare items. It adds an optional mode for Nitwits and Unskilled villagers.

Better Trades is a Minecraft Bedrock addon that reworks villager trading. It swaps hard-to-find trade items for easier materials, adjusts prices, and makes the wandering trader worth meeting. It is a behavior pack for Bedrock only, and Java cannot load it.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.19 to 26.40.

What it changes

Expensive items in trades are replaced with materials that are easier to find, and prices are tuned so a basic item no longer costs heaps of emeralds. Each villager's offers follow its profession more logically. The wandering trader now stocks rare goods such as lapis, totems and ender pearls.

  • Fair prices that leave the natural progression of the economy intact.
  • Trades matched to each profession, with practical and useful items.
  • A wandering trader that offers genuinely rare stock.
  • Two modes. The default mode is the balanced standard, and Extra Villagers mode lets you trade with Nitwits and Unskilled villagers.

The creator updates the pack to stay in step with new releases, adding trades and refining existing ones.

How to install Better Trades

  1. 1.Get the .mcpack file from the CurseForge page.
  2. 2.Double-click it to import it into Minecraft.
  3. 3.Create a new world, open the addon options and find the Better Trades behavior pack.
  4. 4.Activate the pack and start the world.

If the import fails or the pack does not show up, the add-on install guide walks through the usual fixes.

Trade-offs

The scope is narrow, covering villager and wandering trader trades. The listing names no dependency packs and no experimental toggles, so a plain behavior pack activation is all it asks for. The listing does not address Realms or dedicated servers.

Questions about Better Trades.

4 questions

How do I install Better Trades on Bedrock?

Get the .mcpack file from CurseForge and double-click it so Minecraft imports it. Then create a new world, open the addon options, find the Better Trades behavior pack and activate it before you start the world. The pack is for Bedrock only and will not load on Java.

Can I add Better Trades to an existing world?

You can, but the effect is limited. In a world that already exists, only new villagers come with the new prices, and villagers that have already spawned keep their old trades. The creator recommends a fresh world so every villager uses the rebalanced trades from the start.

Does Better Trades let me trade with Nitwits?

Yes, through the optional Extra Villagers mode. It lets you trade with Nitwits and Unskilled villagers. The default mode is the balanced standard, so switch to Extra Villagers mode if you want those villagers included.

Does Better Trades need experimental toggles?

The listing names no experimental toggles and no dependency packs, so it asks only that you activate the Better Trades behavior pack in the world settings. It changes villager and wandering trader trades, not core mechanics.
