Spellbound Skies is a Bedrock addon that takes the Dragon Mounts idea and gives it a magic theme. It adds wild dragons, spells and boss battles, and it is the third addon in that series. It runs on Bedrock only and needs no other pack.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 26.10 to 26.20.

What it adds

Two kinds of dragon form the core. Wild dragons come in Lapis, Redstone, Gold, Emerald and Quartz types. Companion dragons follow wood and sculk themes: Acacia, Azalea, Birch, Cherry, Dark Oak, Jungle, Mangrove, Oak, Pale Oak, Spruce and Sculk.

  • Find a dragon egg and interact with it to start hatching. A baby dragon appears after about 40 minutes, or sooner with the items listed in the in-game guide book.
  • Sneak and interact with the egg to pick it up again. This resets the hatching progress.
  • Tame the baby dragon, then let it grow, or feed it more to speed that up.
  • Saddle a fully grown dragon to ride it. Press jump to take off, and the dragon follows your line of sight.
  • While flying, interact to shoot a fireball.

The creators' wiki on GitHub covers the details beyond this overview.

How to install Spellbound Skies

Open the downloaded .mcaddon or .mcpack file with Bedrock and it imports on its own. Then switch on its behavior and resource packs in the world settings. The install guide walks through each step, and the troubleshooting guide helps if the packs do not show up.

Beta status

The project is new and was tested by only a few people, so bugs are likely. Reports go to the bug tracker on GitHub. Tomanex is co-owner and artist, Myro is owner and lead coder, and Grummboy2 assists with code.

Questions about Spellbound Skies.

4 questions

Can I use Spellbound Skies together with Dragon Mounts 2?

No. The creators say the Dragon Mounts addons have to be played by themselves, not together. Spellbound Skies is a separate addon from Dragon Mounts 2, so use only one of them in a given world.

How do I hatch a dragon egg in Spellbound Skies?

Find a dragon egg and interact with it. The egg looks the same afterward, and a baby dragon hatches in around 40 minutes. Items listed in the in-game guide book speed this up. Sneak and interact to pick the egg up and reset progress.

Which Bedrock versions does Spellbound Skies support?

The newest release, v1.1.1 from 2026-06-06, targets Bedrock 26.10 to 26.20 and requires no other packs. The addon works on Bedrock only, because Java Edition cannot load addons.

Can I ride the dragons in Spellbound Skies?

Yes, once a tamed dragon is fully grown. Saddle it, then press the jump button to take off. The dragon flies along your line of sight, and you can interact with it to shoot a fireball.
