Player Health Indicator is a player health indicator data pack that puts everyone's hit points on screen in three places. It is a vanilla data pack with no loader, so it belongs to the world or the server. Players who join need nothing extra, and a server admin can run it entirely from commands.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.16.5 to 26.3.

What it shows

  • The players list (tab menu).
  • The side scoreboard.
  • Under the player's name.

Each display switches on and off on its own. The pack does one job and has no other features, which suits a survival server that wants visible health without a full overhaul.

Controlling it

Open chat (default key T) and click the options with your mouse cursor. Admins who cannot reach the interactive chat can use functions instead. The pattern is h: followed by a for enable or d for disable, then bar, tab or name for the display. For example, /function h:atab turns health on in the tab menu.

Installing Player Health Indicator

  1. 1.Download the .zip from Modrinth.
  2. 2.Put it in saves/<world>/datapacks, or add it from the Data Packs button when creating a world. On a server, use the server world's datapacks folder.
  3. 3.In an existing world, run /reload or restart to load it.
  4. 4.Open chat and switch on the displays you want.

Questions about Player Health Indicator.

4 questions

How do I show player health under the name?

Install the data pack, then open chat with the T key and use your mouse cursor to choose the under-name display. Admins without the interactive chat can run /function h:aname to enable it and /function h:dname to disable it again.

Can I use Player Health Indicator on a server?

Yes. Put the zip in the server world's datapacks folder and run /reload or restart. The pack is required on the server, while players joining need no extra install. Admins can control every display with function commands instead of chat.

Does the data pack need a resource pack or a mod?

No. The pack lists no dependencies, and it is plain vanilla with no loader. Health appears through the tab menu, the side scoreboard and the under-name slot, so no extra textures or mods are involved.

How do I remove Player Health Indicator cleanly?

Run /function h:remove before you remove the data pack. The pack uses scoreboards to store its data, and that function removes them. Cleaning up first keeps those scoreboards from lingering in the world.
