Terralith completely replaces Minecraft Java Edition's Overworld generation. Developed by Apollo and the Stardust Labs team, it adds over 95 distinct biomes alongside major updates to almost every vanilla biome, all using only blocks already in the game. No resource packs or dependencies are required when using the datapack form.
What changes in your world
Realistic biomes include Yellowstone hot springs, Yosemite Cliffs, the Shield boreal forest, and Desert Oases. Fantasy biomes add Amethyst Jungle, Sakura Valley, Lavender Valley, Volcanic Peaks, and Mirage Isles. Terrain generation expands to include floating Skylands, deep ocean trenches, canyons, and shattered formations. Underground generation gains Thermal Caves, Frostfire Caves, Fungal Caves, and Mantle Caves beneath the surface.
Three custom structures complete the world: the Spire, a tall dark tower found in the coldest biomes; Fortified Villages, rare settlements in plains and desert biomes; and the Glacial Hut, a small shelter in frozen regions.
Installing Terralith
Terralith ships in two forms. The datapack form installs as a .zip file and works on any vanilla server or singleplayer world without a mod loader. The mod form is available for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt, which adds better compatibility with other mods in larger setups.
- 1.Download the .zip datapack or the .jar mod from the Modrinth page.
- 2.Datapack on singleplayer: create or edit a world, click More Options, open Data Packs, drop the .zip into the folder, then enable it before creating.
- 3.Datapack on a server: copy the .zip into your world's datapacks folder and restart.
- 4.Mod install: place the .jar into your mods folder alongside a supported loader (Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt).
- 5.Start a new world. Terralith terrain only generates in new chunks.
Compatibility
- Works alongside all other Stardust Labs projects on any supported version.
- Other Overworld worldgen mods or datapacks are generally not compatible unless a compatibility patch exists on one side.
- Mods and datapacks that do not affect Overworld biome placement should work without issues, especially those using Fabric or Forge tags.
- WorldGen server plugins are not supported.
