What Steam 'n' Rails Server Modpack works with.
| Platform | Java Edition |
|---|---|
| Loaders | Fabric |
| Minecraft versions | 1.20.1 |
| Environment | Client, Server |
The Steam 'n' Rails modpack is the Fabric bundle behind the Steam 'n' Rails Season 2 SMP, a large community-run nations world with a full economy and extensive rail infrastructure. It is described as performant, and it must be installed on both client and server. That makes it a pack for joining a specific community, not a general-purpose solo world.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.20.1.
Installation
- 1.Open the Modrinth App, or Prism Launcher or another launcher that reads .mrpack files.
- 2.Add the modpack from its Modrinth page. The launcher fetches the listed mods and the Fabric loader.
- 3.Launch the instance and join the community world once you are whitelisted.
Whitelist applications and further details live at s2.railways.dev, and the community also runs a Discord. If you have not imported a Modrinth pack before, the guide on how to install a modpack covers the steps.
What's included
Exploration is the first focus. The SMP runs a custom-generated overworld split by vast oceans into separate, distinct continents where the nations can be found. Custom worldgen mods include Natures Spirit, Better End and Amplified Nether, so travel stays varied. A public map of the overworld and nether is hosted at map.s2.railways.dev.
The second focus is the economy. Nations differ in build style and governance, and they have access to different resources, such as Deep Drilling ore nodes. Rail links connect them, and trade runs on a common currency through Create Numismatics.
The rail-heavy setting is the main appeal. Nations are deeply interconnected by rail.
