BetterEnd is a Fabric mod for Minecraft Java Edition that rebuilds the End around new biomes, custom atmospheres, resources, mobs, music, sounds, and effects. It also adds new blocks and items, including wood, stone, food, tools, armor, and weapons. The mod runs on both the client and server.

What BetterEnd adds

  • 24 or more new End biomes with different terrain, atmosphere, resources, and mobs
  • Six new mobs, with biome variations for some of them
  • New blocks and items, including nine wood types, seven stone types, food, tools, armor, and weapons
  • Infusion Rituals, Anvil Recipes, End tool progression, and other new mechanics
  • A configurable custom End world generator that changes island shapes, terrain, height, and caves
  • Custom structures for the Central Island and integrations with some other mods

Stable and beta version support

The newest stable Fabric release is BetterEnd 2.1.7, published on December 27, 2023, for Minecraft 1.19, 1.19.1, and 1.19.2. Do not read the 26.x entries as stable support. BetterEnd 26.101.2 is a beta build for Minecraft 26.1, 26.1.1, and 26.1.2, and the project also lists a separate beta for Minecraft 26.2. Match the mod version, Fabric, BCLib, World Weaver, and Fabric API to the exact Minecraft version you install.

How to get Ender Dust

BetterEnd's current source defines Ender Dust recipes that use an Ender Pearl or an Ender Shard in a level 2 iron anvil recipe. The iron anvil tool takes damage, so this is a modded anvil recipe rather than a vanilla crafting-table recipe.

Do End Cities still exist

Yes. BetterEnd still hooks into Minecraft's End City structure and adds an extra treasure loot table. On the new generator, End City generation can also be reduced by a configurable failure chance, so the exact frequency depends on the generator settings.

How to install BetterEnd

  1. 1.Install Fabric Loader for the Minecraft version you plan to use.
  2. 2.Download BetterEnd from Modrinth for that same version.
  3. 3.Install the required BCLib, Fabric API, and World Weaver dependencies for the matching release.
  4. 4.Optionally add Just Enough Items or Mod Menu if the matching BetterEnd release lists them.
  5. 5.Place the matching .jar files in the instance's mods/ folder. Install the mod and required dependencies on the server too when playing multiplayer.
  6. 6.Back up existing worlds before changing End world generation, then generate new terrain with the mod enabled.
