BactroMod is a client-side mod for Fabric and Quilt that gathers visual clarity tweaks into one settings screen. Fullbright, low fire, low shield, fog controls and item scaling all live in a single download. It affects only your own screen and has no server-side component.

Loaders and versions

What it changes

  • Fullbright with adjustable brightness, from vanilla lighting up to full brightness.
  • Low fire and low shield, which shift the first-person fire overlay and shield render position by a configurable offset.
  • Fog controls for lava, powder snow, blindness, darkness, water and atmospheric fog.
  • A pumpkin blur toggle and a switch that suppresses the night vision effect.
  • Filled maps that stay visible while you move in a boat.
  • Item scaling for individual items such as totems, potions and food, set in a dedicated sub-screen with search. A separate option shrinks the Totem of Undying animation.
  • A fix for shield position during riptide use, plus a gamemode switcher screen that works without OP-level checks.

Every change is injected through Mixins on your side, so other players see nothing different. The trade-off is scope. This is a bundle of rendering and interface tweaks, not a gameplay overhaul, and it does nothing on a dedicated server.

Configuration

Settings change in-game. The preferred route is the entry in Mod Menu, if you have it installed. Without it, a Bactromod Settings button appears on the Credits screen. You can also edit config/bactromod.json by hand, since it is plain JSON.

Installation

  1. 1.Install the loader for your Minecraft release. The guide on installing Fabric covers the steps.
  2. 2.Put the BactroMod .jar and every library it needs in the mods folder.
  3. 3.Launch Minecraft with the loader's profile and open the settings from Mod Menu or the Credits screen.

Questions about BactroMod.

4 questions

Does BactroMod work on multiplayer servers?

BactroMod is client-side only and has no server component, so it changes just your own screen. Nothing needs installing on a server, and the mod does not run on one. Whether a particular server allows visual mods is a matter for that server's rules.

How do I open the BactroMod settings?

Open the BactroMod entry in Mod Menu if it is installed. Otherwise, use the Bactromod Settings button on the Credits screen. Every option is also stored in config/bactromod.json, which is plain JSON you can edit by hand.

Does BactroMod work on Quilt?

Yes. BactroMod ships builds for both Fabric and Quilt, covering the same range of Minecraft releases. Both loaders use Fabric API in the newest builds, and the dependency list above shows what older builds need.

Can BactroMod remove fog and the pumpkin overlay?

Yes. Fog controls toggle lava, powder snow, blindness, darkness, water and atmospheric fog separately. A separate option disables the carved-pumpkin overlay. Each is a setting you switch on or off, so you can keep the effects you like.
