| Environment | Client, Server |
BCLib is a Fabric library mod for Minecraft Java Edition, required on both client and server. Its dependency requirements shift across the version ranges it has been built for, from an earliest 1.19 to 1.19.2 build that lists no other mod up to newer builds pinned to specific Fabric API and World Weaver versions. It backs BetterEnd, BetterNether and Eden Ring with shared block templates, biome and structure APIs, and a SurfaceRule registry, while its own BetterX world type lets biomes from different Nether and End datapacks generate together in one world.
Dependencies by version
- 1.21.6 to 26.2 and the newest builds need Fabric API and World Weaver, plus optional Mod Menu and Just Enough Items (JEI).
- 1.21 to 26.1.2 needs Fabric API and World Weaver, plus optional Mod Menu.
- 1.20 to 1.20.4 needs Fabric API, plus optional Mod Menu.
- 1.19 to 1.19.4 needs Fabric API only.
- 1.19 to 1.19.2 builds run with no listed dependency.
Installation
Drop the matching BCLib jar into the mods folder on both the client and the server, alongside whichever dependency that version range calls for, then launch through a Fabric profile matching the game version. Anyone new to modding Java can follow the general steps in how to install Minecraft mods on Java Edition and set up the loader with how to install Fabric on Minecraft Java first.
Configuration
BCLib ships a config system that synchronizes settings automatically between client and server, so server operators do not need to hand-edit matching files on every connected machine. Developers can pull the library into their own projects through the BetterX maven repository and pin it with semantic version ranges in fabric.mod.json.
Questions about BCLib.
4 questions
What does BCLib actually do in a world
It supplies the block templates, world-generation APIs, tag management and config syncing that BetterEnd, BetterNether and Eden Ring depend on, and it defines a BetterX world type that lets biomes from separate Nether or End mods generate in the same world.
Do I need BCLib on the server or just the client
Both. BCLib is listed as required on client and server, so a server missing it will not run correctly for players who have it installed, and the reverse is also true.
Which Fabric mod does BCLib actually require
Fabric API is required for every version range except the earliest 1.19 to 1.19.2 build, which lists no dependency at all. Newer builds from 1.21 onward also require World Weaver. Mod Menu and Just Enough Items are optional additions, not hard requirements.
Can I use BCLib without BetterEnd or BetterNether installed
BCLib works as a standalone library, and its stated purpose is backing other BetterX team mods including BetterEnd, BetterNether and Eden Ring, so it is meant to be paired with at least one of them.
