BetterHud is a server-side HUD system by toxicity188. This page covers the Fabric and Quilt mods, a HUD mod for Minecraft Java that runs on the host side.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric and Quilt: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric Language Kotlin and Fabric API, optionally LuckPerms, Text Placeholder API and Polymer; builds for 1.21 to 1.21.11 require Fabric API.
What it does
The HUD is assembled from images (including PNG sequences), text and player heads, and elements can be animated. TTF fonts and GIFs are supported.
- Automatic resource pack generation, so layouts do not need hand-built packs.
- Asynchronous processing, which the creator says causes no server TPS loss.
- Hotbar relocation and removal of the experience text.
- A boss bar is used for rendering, yet the normal first boss bar stays usable.
- A public API for developers.
Installation
Set up Fabric or Quilt on the host first, following our Fabric guide. Then put the mod file and its required libraries in the mods folder and start it.
Trade-offs
The newest Fabric and Quilt builds are marked alpha, and the 2.2.0 snapshot line is still moving. The Fabric port is also the smaller side of the project.
