BlueMap Marker Manager is a marker manager plugin for BlueMap that ships as a Fabric and Quilt mod, with plugin builds for Paper and Purpur. It adds a /bmarker command that walks players through creating markers and marker sets in an interactive menu. Nobody edits configs or reads the marker docs, and each player manages their own markers.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric: Minecraft 1.19 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API, Silk and BlueMap; some builds for 1.21 to 1.21.8 require Fabric API and Silk; some builds for 1.21.5 need no dependencies; some builds for 1.19 to 1.21.4 require Silk and BlueMap; some builds for 1.20.2 to 1.20.4 require Fabric Language Kotlin, Silk and BlueMap; some builds for 1.19 to 1.19.2 require BlueMap.
  • Quilt: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API, Silk and BlueMap; some builds for 1.21 to 1.21.8 require Fabric API and Silk; some builds for 1.21.5 need no dependencies; some builds for 1.20.2 to 1.21.4 require Silk and BlueMap; some builds for 1.20.2 to 1.20.4 require Fabric Language Kotlin, Silk and BlueMap.

Creating markers and marker sets

A new marker or marker set opens a setup menu. Every marker type has its own arguments, and hovering over one explains what it does and how it changes the result. Every marker has to sit inside a set, so create the set first.

  • /bmarker creates, modifies and deletes markers and sets. Its subcommands include create, create-set, delete, delete-set and reload.
  • /btemplate (bmarker.command.templates) creates and deletes template groups.
  • /bplayer (bmarker.command.visibility) hides or shows player markers.
  • /btp (bmarker.command.teleport) teleports you to a chosen marker.
  • /bsettings (bmarker.command.settings) changes core settings.

The base permission is needed to use a command, and player use is limited. The bypass permission with the .others suffix, for example bmarker.command.visibility.others, lifts those limits and grants access to other players' markers and sets.

Installation

  1. 1.Install Fabric or Quilt for your Minecraft release. The guide on how to install Fabric covers the loader.
  2. 2.Add BlueMap, plus the libraries your release needs, such as Fabric API. The list above shows which ones apply.
  3. 3.Put the mod file and each required library in the mods folder, then launch with the Fabric or Quilt profile.
  4. 4.Grant the command permissions to the players who should place markers.

Trade-offs

The Bukkit and Spigot plugin builds stopped at 1.19.4 in January 2023, while the Paper and Purpur builds continue.

Questions about BlueMap Marker Manager.

3 questions

How do I add markers to BlueMap without editing config files?

Run /bmarker create-set to make a marker set, then /bmarker create to start the interactive setup for a marker inside it. Each argument explains itself on hover. The command needs the base permission, and use is limited unless a bypass permission is granted.

Does BlueMap Marker Manager work on Paper?

Yes. Paper and Purpur plugin builds exist for 1.16 to 26.3, and the newest build requires BlueMap. The older Bukkit and Spigot builds stopped at 1.19.4, so those loaders are not current.

Can every player create their own markers?

Yes, within limits. Players with the right command permission can create and manage their own markers and sets. Access to other players' markers needs the bypass permission, which adds the .others suffix to the command permission.
