What Animated Doors works with.
| Platform | Java Edition |
|---|---|
| Loaders | Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Quilt |
| Minecraft versions | 1.19, 1.20.1, 1.21.1, 1.21.4, 26.1, 26.2, 26.3 |
| Environment | Client, Server |
Animated Doors replaces the instant vanilla door, trapdoor, and fence gate swing with a smooth opening and closing animation, and links two adjacent doors so opening one side swings both together. It runs as a Fabric, NeoForge, or Quilt mod for Minecraft Java, with a separate datapack build for vanilla worlds through 1.21.4, and the animation itself works entirely client-side.
Configuration and settings
On Fabric, the settings screen opens through Mod Menu, which needs to be installed separately since Animated Doors does not bundle it. From there, players can adjust animation speed, switch between linear and eased motion, toggle animation for doors, trapdoors, and fence gates individually, and turn server-side linking on or off.
- Animation speed: default 0.3 seconds per swing
- Easing: Ease In/Out by default, or Linear for no smoothing
- Per-block toggles for doors, trapdoors, and fence gates
- Server linking toggle, useful for avoiding anti-cheat false positives
Loader and version support
Fabric, NeoForge, and Quilt builds share the same release schedule and reach the current 26.3 release. Forge was supported from the mod's original 1.19 build through 1.21.3, but the developer stopped shipping Forge jars starting with the 2.0.0 update for Minecraft 26.1. The datapack-only build is a lighter version for players without a mod loader, and it stops at 1.21.4.
Dependencies and compatibility
Every Animated Doors release through version 2.0.0, and the datapack build, lists the separate Smooth Animated Doors resource pack as a required dependency. The current 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 builds, covering Minecraft 26.1 through 26.3, dropped that requirement and run standalone. The mod is built to work alongside Sodium and Iris and alongside custom door models from other mods, though some shader packs can show invalid shadows on a door mid-swing.
Not the same mod as Fancy Door Animations
A separate mod called Fancy Door Animations: Hold My Doors, made by a different developer, also adds door swing animation and shows up alongside Animated Doors in most searches. It is not a fork, a rebrand, or the same project. This page covers Animated Doors by Miraculixx, distributed from its own Modrinth listing.
Questions about Animated Doors.
5 questions
How do I install Animated Doors?
Install Fabric, NeoForge, or Quilt for your Minecraft version, then drop the matching Animated Doors jar into the mods folder and launch that profile. Vanilla-only worlds without a mod loader can use the separate datapack build instead, which covers Minecraft versions up to 1.21.4.
Does Animated Doors work with Forge?
Only on older versions. Forge builds shipped from the mod's 1.19 release through 1.21.3, but the developer dropped Forge starting with the 2.0.0 update for Minecraft 26.1, so current releases only cover Fabric, NeoForge, and Quilt.
Is Animated Doors the same mod as Fancy Door Animations: Hold My Doors?
No. Fancy Door Animations: Hold My Doors is a separate mod by a different creator, listed on its own Modrinth and CurseForge pages. Animated Doors is the project covered here, made by Miraculixx, and the two are unrelated aside from both animating doors.
Do I need Smooth Animated Doors installed too?
It depends on the build. Every Animated Doors release up to version 2.0.0, plus the datapack-only build, lists the Smooth Animated Doors resource pack as a required dependency. Versions 2.0.1 and 2.0.2, covering Minecraft 26.1 through 26.3, run standalone with no required dependency.
Is Animated Doors compatible with Sodium and Iris shaders?
Yes, the mod is built to work alongside Sodium and Iris and with custom door models from other mods. Some shader packs can render invalid shadows on animated doors mid-swing, which is a shader rendering quirk rather than a bug in the door animation itself.
