Camera Overhaul is a client-side camera mod for Minecraft Java on Fabric, Quilt, NeoForge and Forge. Mirsario built it to make movement feel more physical through added camera rotations. It is a camera overhaul mod for your own install only; multiplayer servers need nothing added.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric and Quilt: Minecraft 1.14 to 26.3. The newest build requires Cloth Config API, optionally Mod Menu; some builds for 1.14 to 1.21.4 require Cloth Config API and Mod Menu; some builds for 1.14 to 1.21.4 need no dependencies.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.19.3 to 26.3. The newest build requires Cloth Config API.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.17 to 1.20.5. The newest build requires Cloth Config API; some builds for 1.17 to 1.18.2 require Cloth Config API and Mod Menu.
What the camera does
The effects react to what the player is doing. Each one is separate, so you can keep the ones you like.
- Strafing and turning tilt the camera sideways.
- Jumping, falling and moving forward or backwards shift the camera's pitch.
- Nearby explosions shake the screen.
- Standing still long enough makes the camera sway gently while it waits for input.
Configuration
Every feature has an intensity factor. Set a factor to 0.0 and that effect switches off. Negative values are usually accepted too, which inverts the effect. On Fabric and Quilt, Mod Menu opens an in-game settings screen. On every loader you can edit the documented file at .minecraft/config/cameraoverhaul.toml.
Installation
- 1.Install the loader that matches your Minecraft release, then pick the Camera Overhaul file made for that loader and release.
- 2.Add Cloth Config API to the mods folder as well. Its .jar goes next to the mod's own.
- 3.Launch with the loader's profile and adjust the effects in the config screen or the TOML file.

Does Camera Overhaul work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, as a client-side mod it works when you join servers, because the effects only change your own view. Nothing needs to be installed on the server, and putting it on a dedicated server is unsupported. Other players do not see your camera motion.
How do I turn off camera shake or tilt in Camera Overhaul?
Open the in-game config screen (Mod Menu on Fabric and Quilt) or edit .minecraft/config/cameraoverhaul.toml. Set the factor for the effect you want gone to 0.0 and it switches off. Negative values usually invert the effect instead.
