Charm of Undying is a Minecraft Java mod by TheIllusiveC4 that adds a Charm accessory slot for the Totem of Undying, so its death-protection effect works without holding the totem in hand or giving up a hotbar slot. It runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt, and both the client and server need it installed, since the effect has to be tracked on the server side too. The mod was formerly split into two separate projects, Curio of Undying for the Curios ecosystem and Trinket of Undying for Trinkets, before they merged into this single listing.
Dependencies by loader
Charm of Undying does not add its own accessory slot system. It plugs into whichever slot framework your loader's mod ecosystem already uses, so the required dependency changes by loader.
- Fabric: Trinkets and Fabric API
- Quilt: Trinkets and Quilted Fabric API (QSL)
- Forge: Curios API
- NeoForge: Curios API
Version support by loader
The current release ceiling is not the same across loaders, and none of the four has shipped a new build since 2024.
- Fabric: up to 1.21.1 (release build 9.1.0, published October 2024)
- NeoForge: up to 1.21.1 (release build 9.1.0, published October 2024)
- Forge: up to 1.20.6 (release build 8.0.0, published June 2024)
- Quilt: up to 1.20.1 (release build 6.5.0, published March 2024)
Installing Charm of Undying
- 1.Install the loader dependency listed above for your loader first (Curios API on Forge or NeoForge, Trinkets on Fabric or Quilt).
- 2.Download the Charm of Undying build that matches your loader and Minecraft version from Modrinth.
- 3.Drop both jars into the mods folder, matching versions on client and server.
- 4.Open your inventory, find the new Charm slot, and place a Totem of Undying inside it.
Not the same mod as Charm of Undying: Reborn
Charm of Undying: Reborn is a separate, unofficial fork listed on CurseForge by a different author. It is not this project, and this page's download link points only to TheIllusiveC4's original Charm of Undying on Modrinth.
Frequently asked questions
Questions about Charm of Undying.
5 questions
How do I install Charm of Undying?
Install the accessory dependency your loader needs first, Curios API on Forge or NeoForge, Trinkets on Fabric or Quilt, then add the matching Charm of Undying jar to the mods folder on both client and server. Open your inventory afterward and drop a Totem of Undying into the new Charm slot.
Does Charm of Undying work with Fabric and Forge?
Yes, Charm of Undying ships separate builds for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt, each requiring a different dependency mod. Fabric and NeoForge builds currently reach Minecraft 1.21.1, while Forge stops at 1.20.6 and Quilt at 1.20.1.
Which Minecraft version does Charm of Undying support?
The version ceiling depends on the loader. Fabric and NeoForge builds go up to 1.21.1, Forge stops at 1.20.6, and Quilt has not moved past 1.20.1. No loader has received a new build since late 2024, so treat any newer version claim on other sites as unverified.
Is Charm of Undying the same mod as Charm of Undying: Reborn?
No. Charm of Undying: Reborn is a separate, unofficial fork on CurseForge made by a different author. This page covers only TheIllusiveC4's original Charm of Undying, hosted on Modrinth.
Does Charm of Undying need Curios API or Trinkets?
It needs one or the other depending on loader, not both. Forge and NeoForge builds require Curios API, while Fabric and Quilt builds require Trinkets, plus Fabric API or Quilted Fabric API respectively.
