CIT Resewn is a Fabric mod for Minecraft Java that rebuilds OptiFine's custom item textures, CIT for short, as a standalone client-side feature. It needs no OptiFine or MCPatcher installed to work. The creator, SHsuperCM, has kept builds at Minecraft 1.21.1 with no new release since October 18, 2024.
What CIT means and what CIT Resewn changes
CIT stands for custom item textures, a resource pack feature MCPatcher introduced and OptiFine later adopted. A CIT-format pack can swap an item's texture based on conditions such as its enchantments, durability, NBT data, or the block it is placed against, detail vanilla resource packs cannot express on their own. CIT Resewn re-implements that system as a Fabric mod so a CIT-format pack keeps working without OptiFine, and the companion CIT Resewn: Defaults build ships the standard set of conditions the original format defined.
Does CIT Resewn work on your Minecraft version
- Loader: Fabric only. The creator has never published a Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt build.
- Version ceiling: builds cover 1.17 through 1.21.1.
- Latest build: version 1.2.2+1.21, published October 18, 2024, and nothing has shipped since.
- Side: client-only. It has no server-side function.
If you play a Fabric release newer than 1.21.1, the original CIT Resewn will not install, and no update has arrived in almost two years to change that. A project called CIT Resewn Continuation on Modrinth and a separate CurseForge listing porting the mod to NeoForge both attempt to carry the format past 1.21.1. Both are third-party, unofficial forks built by other developers, not by SHsuperCM, and neither has been reviewed here.
Installing CIT Resewn
- 1.Install Fabric Loader for the Minecraft version you play, at or below 1.21.1.
- 2.Download the CIT Resewn jar matching your loader and version from Modrinth, plus the CIT Resewn: Defaults jar for the standard condition set.
- 3.Drop both jars into your client mods folder.
- 4.Add a resource pack that uses the CIT format. CIT Resewn only interprets the format; it adds no textures of its own.
Dependencies and license
CIT Resewn's recent Fabric builds list no required companion mod on Modrinth. It is released under the MIT license, which lets anyone reuse, modify, or fork the code freely, and is the reason unofficial continuations exist at all.
Questions about CIT Resewn.
3 questions
Does CIT Resewn work on my Minecraft version?
The creator's Fabric builds run through Minecraft 1.21.1, with the last one published October 18, 2024. Nothing newer has shipped since. On a later Fabric release, the original CIT Resewn will not install, and a CIT-format resource pack will need a third-party continuation or a different loader instead.
What does CIT mean in CIT Resewn?
CIT stands for custom item textures, a feature MCPatcher introduced and OptiFine later adopted. It lets a resource pack change how an item looks based on conditions like enchantments, durability, or NBT data. CIT Resewn re-implements that system as a standalone Fabric mod, so CIT-format packs work without installing OptiFine.
Is there a newer version of CIT Resewn?
Not from the original creator, SHsuperCM, whose last release stopped at 1.21.1 in October 2024. An unofficial Modrinth continuation and a separate CurseForge port to NeoForge both extend the format to newer builds, but both are maintained by other developers and are not affiliated with the original mod.
