Xaero's World Map is a client-required mod for Minecraft Java Edition that builds a fullscreen exploration map as you play. Open it with M (the default keybind) to see a top-down view of every chunk you have visited, including terrain, biomes, and waypoints synced from Xaero's Minimap. The mod supports Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt and has seen continuous updates since Minecraft 1.7.10.

How to Install Xaero's World Map

  1. 1.Download the mod .jar for your Minecraft version and loader from the Modrinth page.
  2. 2.Install a compatible mod loader: Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt.
  3. 3.Place the downloaded .jar in your .minecraft/mods/ folder.
  4. 4.On Fabric, also add Fabric API to your mods folder if not already present.
  5. 5.Launch Minecraft and press M to open the world map.

Client and Server Setup

Xaero's World Map is required on the client and optional on the server. On a vanilla or modded multiplayer server without the mod installed, it still builds your map client-side as you explore. Installing it server-side enables additional features like server-controlled map data, but the core exploration map works entirely without a server-side install.

Compatibility with Xaero's Minimap

Xaero's World Map and Xaero's Minimap are made by the same creator and designed to share waypoints and player markers. When both are installed together, waypoints you set in either mod appear in the other automatically. Each mod works on its own, but installing both gives you a complete navigation setup: a corner minimap for moment-to-moment awareness and a full-screen exploration view a keybind press away.

Configuration and Keybinds

All settings are accessible through the in-game keybind screen and the world map's built-in settings panel. You can change the M keybind, adjust zoom levels, toggle underground or cave-layer mapping, and configure waypoint display. Map data is stored per world save or server address so exploration history stays separate across different games.
