Supplementaries

Supplementaries is a Java Edition decoration and utility mod that adds more than 50 vanilla-styled blocks and items, among them jars, globes, hourglasses, notice boards, way signs, flower boxes, faucets, spring launchers, and cog blocks. Everything crafts from standard materials and sits beside vanilla blocks without a texture clash. It runs on Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge from Minecraft 1.16.5 up to 1.21.1, needs Moonlight Lib to load, and has to be installed on the server as well as the client.

Blocks and items Supplementaries adds

Most of the mod is small self-contained blocks that each do one job. These are the ones people look up by name, and what each one actually does in-game.

• Jars hold up to 12 cookie-type items or 12 bottles of fluid, and they can also trap small mobs. You can eat or drink straight from one, and the fluid list is data driven so a data pack can extend it.
• The globe is a rare item from shipwrecks or the wandering trader. It renders a small blocky world generated from your seed, spins one face per use to show your current coordinates, and gives a comparator output based on the face it lands on.
• The hourglass takes any sand, dust, powder, slime, or honey, and each material drains at its own speed. A comparator reads the time left, which turns it into an adjustable redstone timer. Shift-click or two turn table rotations reset it.
• Notice boards display a written book, a map, or a banner pattern. A redstone pulse turns to the next page of a book, and waxing the board locks it against further changes.
• Way signs, the sign posts people usually mean, mount two to a fence or a placed stick and face whichever way you were looking. Click one with a compass and it points at world spawn or your lodestone.
• Flower boxes hold tall flowers and vines that a normal flower pot rejects, and they can be centred in a block, pushed to any side, or hung from a ceiling.
• Planters grow any plant or crop with no water source nearby, which is the usual reason to take them into the Nether, and crops inside them cannot be trampled.
• The spring launcher extends like a piston and throws entities standing on it about twice as far as a vanilla piston and slime block. It moves entities only, never blocks, and you can also bounce off one that is already extended.
• Faucets pour fluid from a jar, tank, cauldron, or waterlogged block into any container below in 250mb steps. Powered or clicked, they will also drip items out of the inventory behind them, roughly one per second.
• Presents are one-stack containers you address to a named player with a short note. Once packed, only you and that player can open it. They come in 16 colours plus an untinted one.
• The cog block carries redstone power through solid blocks to adjacent cogs up to 14 blocks away, which makes compact vertical signalling much easier than dust and repeaters.
• Sconces, candle holders, candelabras, and fire pits are the light sources. Light them with flint and steel, a fire charge, a flaming arrow, or placeable gunpowder, and put them out by waterlogging without breaking the block.
• Doormats, blackboards, flags, bunting, pedestals, sacks, cages, and awnings fill out the ambient set for interiors, storage, and early-game inventory space.

How to install Supplementaries

1. 1.Install a supported loader for your Minecraft version, either Fabric with Fabric API, or Forge or NeoForge.
2. 2.Download Moonlight Lib for the same loader and Minecraft version and put it in the mods folder.
3. 3.Download the Supplementaries .jar from Modrinth for that same loader and Minecraft version.
4. 4.Put the Supplementaries .jar in the mods folder next to Moonlight Lib. Our mod install walkthrough covers where that folder lives on each system.
5. 5.Launch Minecraft through the loader profile. Both files have to be present or the game will not start.

Supported Minecraft versions and loaders

Every download is a single .jar file, and there is one build per loader for each supported Minecraft version. Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge each get their own file, Quilt is not a listed target, and files are not interchangeable across versions or loaders. Releases run from 1.16.5 to 1.21.1, and 1.21.1 is the ceiling as of our last check. The newest release is 1.21.1-3.9.6 from 30 August 2026, and there are no builds for 1.21.2 or later, so a search for a 26.x or a 1.21.11 file will not find one yet.

Multiplayer and server support

Supplementaries has to be on the client and the server. A Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge server adds it the same way single-player does, with Moonlight Lib alongside it. Clients that connect without the mod may see missing block models or be refused outright, depending on how the loader handles required server-side mods.

How it fits with other mods

The mod is built to sit in a vanilla-plus pack rather than run one. Flower boxes accept the extra potted plants from Quark, sacks and blackboards pick up Quark's tooltip style, hourglasses can be rotated by a Create contraption, and planters take rich soil from Farmer's Delight. One honest limit here, most of that integration was written for Forge first and is not guaranteed to behave the same on Fabric.
