Cobbreeding is a side-mod for Cobblemon that adds Pokémon breeding early. It runs on Fabric and NeoForge, and an older Forge line has stopped. It must be installed on both the player's side and the multiplayer host's side.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 1.21.1. The newest build requires Cloth Config API, Cobblemon, Fabric API and Architectury API, optionally Mod Menu; some builds for 1.21.1 need no dependencies; some builds for 1.20.1 to 1.21.1 require Cobblemon, Fabric API and Architectury API; some builds for 1.20.1 require Fabric Language Kotlin, Cobblemon and Architectury API; some builds for 1.20.1 require Fabric Language Kotlin, Cobblemon and Fabric API.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21.1. The newest build requires Cloth Config API, Cobblemon, Architectury API and Kotlin for Forge; some builds for 1.21.1 need no dependencies; some builds for 1.21.1 require Cobblemon, Architectury API and Kotlin for Forge.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.20.1, builds stopped after December 2024. The newest build requires Cobblemon, Architectury API and Kotlin for Forge.
How breeding works
The mod extends the pasture block. Put compatible Pokémon in it, click the button to activate breeding, and come back later to maybe find an egg in the nesting area at the bottom of the block. Parents can belong to different owners. Eggs can be picked up, and they hatch only while they sit in a player's inventory.
- Inheritance of IVs (including Power items and Destiny Knot), natures (with the Everstone), forms, Poké Balls and abilities.
- Egg moves from every move the parents ever learned, with no need to equip them. Mirror Herb teaches egg moves.
- Shiny hunting with Masuda-style and Crystal-style boosts.
- Abilities that halve hatch time.
- Regional forms pass directly from the parents instead of depending on biome.
Configuration and commands
Breeding time defaults to between 8000 and 14000 ticks, set by minBreedingTimeInTicks and maxBreedingTimeInTicks. At the default eggHatchMultiplier of 1.0, an egg with an egg cycle of 20 hatches in about 10 minutes. Other options cover the shiny method, hidden abilities, Ditto-and-Ditto random eggs, egg colours by typing, hopper extraction, the number of eggs a pasture holds (5 by default) and a per-player cap on active pastures.
The command /givepokemonegg gives a player an egg and takes the same arguments as Cobblemon's /pokegiveother. For forms, use the pattern form=, as in /givepokemonegg Ludichat vulpix form=alola.
Installation
- 1.Install Fabric or NeoForge for a matching Minecraft release, using the guides linked on this page.
- 2.Put the Cobbreeding file and every dependency listed above in the mods folder.
- 3.Do the same on the multiplayer host, then start with the loader's profile.
Questions about Cobbreeding.
3 questions
How do I breed Pokémon with Cobbreeding?
Place compatible Pokémon in a Cobblemon pasture block, then click the button that activates breeding. After a while an egg may appear in the nesting area at the bottom of the block. Pick it up and keep it in your inventory, because the hatch timer stops when the egg is elsewhere.
Does Cobbreeding work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, but it is required on both sides. Players and the multiplayer host both need the mod and its dependencies. Parents in a pasture can belong to different owners, and the config can cap how many pastures each player may activate for breeding at once.
Can I make Cobbreeding eggs hatch faster?
Yes. Lower the eggHatchMultiplier option, which defaults to 1.0 and gives roughly ten minutes for an egg with an egg cycle of 20. Abilities that reduce hatch time also halve it. You can also shorten the breeding time with minBreedingTimeInTicks and maxBreedingTimeInTicks.
