The crafting tweaks mod by BlayTheNinth puts buttons on crafting tables so you can rotate, balance or clear the grid in one click. It runs on Fabric, NeoForge and Forge for Java Edition, and it is tagged for both sides, so it loads in single-player and multiplayer. It needs the Balm library alongside it.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric: Minecraft 1.17.1 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API and Balm; some builds for 1.20.2 to 1.21.4 require Fabric API and Balm (Outdated Versions); builds for 1.17.1 to 1.20.1 require Balm (Outdated Versions).
  • NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.4 to 26.3. The newest build requires Balm; builds for 1.20.4 need no dependencies.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.17.1 to 1.21.11. The newest build requires Balm.

What the buttons and shortcuts do

  • Rotate the outer ring of the crafting grid.
  • Balance the materials so stack sizes even out. Hold Shift on the balance button to spread a single stack across the whole grid.
  • Clear the grid back into your inventory.
  • Hold W while clicking items to move them into the grid. Shift+W moves every item of that type.
  • Right-click the result slot to craft a full stack.
  • Press a keybind to compress or decompress items into their 3x3 or 2x2 recipe, such as ingots and blocks.

Many modded crafting tables are supported too. Grids that are not covered can be registered through data packs, using JSON files placed in a craftingtweaks_compat folder, either in a standalone data pack or embedded in a mod. This works on Fabric and Forge.

Installation

Pick the file that matches your loader and your game release, then drop it into the mods folder together with Balm. If you are new to loaders, the guides linked on this page cover the setup.

Questions about Crafting Tweaks.

4 questions

Do I need Balm to use Crafting Tweaks?

The newest files on Fabric, NeoForge and Forge all require Balm, so put it in the mods folder next to Crafting Tweaks. The one exception is the NeoForge file for 1.20.4, which lists no dependencies. On Fabric, the newest file also requires Fabric API. Follow the dependencies listed on the exact file you choose.

Does Crafting Tweaks work on multiplayer?

Yes. It is bi-optional, so only the players who want the buttons need to install it. If the host does not have it, it still works for the players who do. Installing it on both sides is not required.

Does Crafting Tweaks work with modded crafting tables?

Many modded crafting tables are supported out of the box. For a table that is not, a data pack can register its grid with a JSON file inside a craftingtweaks_compat folder. This is documented for both Fabric and Forge.

What does the balance button do?

It evens out the stack sizes of the materials in your crafting grid. Holding Shift while pressing it spreads a single stack across the entire grid, which is handy for crafting many identical items in bulk.
