Create: Pattern Schematics

A Create add-on that adds schematics which repeat themselves, so a bridge can be made longer on a contraption or in a schematicannon.

Create: Pattern Schematics is a Java mod for NeoForge, Fabric and Forge that adds repeating schematics to Create. Instead of placing one fixed structure, a pattern schematic lays down the same section again and again. It must be installed on both the client and the server.

Loaders and versions

  • NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21.1. The newest build requires Create.
  • Fabric: Minecraft 1.19.2 to 1.20.1. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.19.2 to 1.20.1 require Fabric API and Create Fabric; some builds for 1.19.2 to 1.20.1 require Create Fabric.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.19.2 to 1.20.1. The newest build requires Create.

What pattern schematics do

Two features define the mod, and the creator labels both as development test demos. The first is infinite construction on moving contraptions. A pattern schematic can ride on a train, a gantry carriage or any other contraption and keep building new iterations as it travels.

The second is repetition of an existing schematic. Repeating a bridge section to make the bridge longer is the example given. You can print the result in creative mode, or feed the pattern into a schematicannon and let it place the blocks.

Getting started

  1. 1.Install the loader that matches your release, using the guide for Fabric or Forge and NeoForge.
  2. 2.Add the mod .jar and the dependencies listed for your loader to the mods folder.
  3. 3.Put the same files on the dedicated server, since both sides need the mod.
  4. 4.Print the pattern schematic in creative mode, or put it into a schematicannon to build.
  5. 5.To extend a structure while travelling, place the pattern schematic on a train, gantry carriage or other contraption.

The general steps for adding mods are covered in how to install mods on Java Edition.

Legacy support and trade-offs

The practical trade-off is clear. If you want fixes and new behaviour, the NeoForge release is the one to follow. If you are staying on an older modpack, the Fabric and Forge files still work, but expect them to stay as they are. Both features are also described as demos, so treat them as a focused building aid rather than a finished construction suite.

Questions about Create: Pattern Schematics.

4 questions

What does Create: Pattern Schematics do?

It adds schematics that repeat. A pattern schematic can be placed on a train, gantry carriage or other contraption to keep building new iterations, or used to repeat an existing schematic such as a bridge. You can print it in creative mode or load it into a schematicannon.

Do I need to install Pattern Schematics on the server too?

Yes. The mod is required on both the client and the server. A multiplayer world needs the same mod file and its dependencies on the dedicated server as well as on every player's installation, matched to the loader in use.

Is Create: Pattern Schematics still being updated?

NeoForge 1.21.1 is the main development target. The Fabric and Forge releases for 1.20.1 are legacy and unlikely to receive support beyond their current state, because maintaining several versions is difficult.

Can I use pattern schematics to make a bridge longer?

Yes, repeating a bridge to make it longer is the example given for repeating an existing schematic. You can print the result in creative mode or put it into a schematicannon to build it.
