Dramatic Doors

Adds 3-block-tall doors in every vanilla wood type plus iron, so horses and Endermen can walk through without ducking. Runs on four loaders from one mod file family.

Dramatic Doors is a Minecraft Java mod that adds 3-block-tall doors for Fabric, Quilt, NeoForge and Forge. It answers doors that barely clear the player, riders who suffocate passing through on a horse, and what the author calls Enderman discrimination. It is required on both sides, so players and multiplayer hosts both install it.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric and Quilt: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 1.21.1. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.18.2 to 1.20.2 require Fabric API.
  • NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 1.21.1. The newest build needs no dependencies.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.16.5 to 1.20.6. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.20.1 to 1.20.2 require Fabric API.

What the tall doors add

Every vanilla door gets a tall counterpart. The set grows with the Minecraft release you play, and the mod is built for modpacks: Kitteh6660 states it supports over 100 other mods across Forge and Fabric.

  • Iron, Oak, Spruce, Birch, Acacia, Dark Oak and Jungle on every supported release.
  • Crimson and Warped from 1.16 onward.
  • Mangrove from 1.19 onward.
  • Bamboo and Cherry from 1.20 onward.

Crafting a tall door

Place three regular doors of one type vertically in a crafting table. The recipe returns two tall doors, so the cost per door is lower than it looks.

Installation

  1. 1.Install the loader that matches your Minecraft release, using the Java mod installation guide if you are new to it.
  2. 2.Add any dependency listed for your loader below, such as Fabric API for the builds that need it.
  3. 3.Put the mod file in the mods folder of the Minecraft directory, on the player's machine and on the host's machine.
  4. 4.Launch with the loader's profile and craft a door.

The author notes that the same mod file loads on Forge, Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt. Check that the file you pick matches your Minecraft release, since each loader covers a different span.

Questions about Dramatic Doors.

4 questions

How do you craft tall doors in Dramatic Doors?

Put three regular doors of the same type vertically in a crafting table. The recipe returns two tall doors, each three blocks high. This works for every supported wood type, iron, and the nether and newer variants where your Minecraft release includes them.

Does Dramatic Doors work on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt?

Yes. The mod has builds for all four loaders, and its author says the same mod file loads on each. Pick the file that matches both your loader and your Minecraft release, because the supported span differs between loaders and some builds need Fabric API.

Do I need Dramatic Doors on a multiplayer host as well?

Yes. The mod is required on both sides, so the host of a multiplayer world and every player joining must install it. Use a loader and a Minecraft release that match across everyone, and pick a mod file built for that loader and release.

Which doors does Dramatic Doors make tall?

It covers iron, oak, spruce, birch, acacia, dark oak and jungle doors. Crimson and Warped come from 1.16, Mangrove from 1.19, and Bamboo and Cherry from 1.20, so the available set depends on the release you run.
