Loaders and versions

What you can watch

  • YouTube videos and livestreams, ad-free, up to 4K, with multiple audio languages.
  • Twitch live channels, VODs and clips, plus Kick live channels and VODs.
  • Vimeo public videos and live events, plus Bilibili videos and live channels.
  • Direct video files and live streams, and Google Drive, Dropbox and Imgur direct links.

Links outside that list are worth a try, since the creator invites it.

Playback and display controls

Each display runs in one of three modes: local, synchronized or broadcast. Playback stays synchronized across the server with very low network usage.

  • A media player with search and Picture-in-Picture.
  • 3D sound, with volume up to 200%.
  • Adjustable display size, brightness and orientation.
  • Hardware-accelerated video decoding.

Server owners get a fullscreen mode for events, a simple config, and displays that survive restarts and unloading. Permissions are fine-grained through LuckPerms, and the Paper, Folia and Purpur plugins can also use WorldGuard.

Installation

  1. 1.Pick the file that matches your loader or server software and your Minecraft release.
  2. 2.On Fabric or Quilt, add Fabric API alongside it. NeoForge and Forge need no dependencies.
  3. 3.For the mod, put its .jar file and any required dependency .jar in the mods folder of each player's install and of the server.
  4. 4.Join, create a display and paste a link.

Questions about Dream Displays.

4 questions

Is Dream Displays a mod or a plugin?

Both. Dream Displays ships as a mod for Fabric, NeoForge, Quilt and Forge, and as a plugin for Paper, Folia and Purpur. Proxy plugins exist for BungeeCord and Velocity, and Bukkit and Spigot plugins are also published. Pick the file that matches your loader or server software, since each one runs only on the platform it was made for.

Which video sites does Dream Displays support?

YouTube videos and livestreams play ad-free at up to 4K with multiple audio languages. Twitch channels, VODs and clips, Kick channels and VODs, Vimeo videos and live events, and Bilibili videos also work. Direct video files, live streams, and Google Drive, Dropbox and Imgur direct links are supported, and other links are worth trying.

Do all players need Dream Displays installed?

Dream Displays is required on both sides, so each player needs the mod and the server needs the mod or plugin. Playback can then be local, synchronized or broadcast, depending on how you want a display to behave for the people standing in front of it.

Can I control who creates displays?

Yes. Dream Displays supports fine-grained permissions through LuckPerms, which is an optional dependency. Displays also keep their settings after restarts and unloading, so a configured cinema stays as you left it. The Paper, Folia and Purpur plugins can additionally use WorldGuard.
