CoffeeG's Wall Climbing adds a wall climb mechanic to Minecraft Java. It ships as a mod for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and also as a plain datapack. It is required on the server and optional on the client.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.13 to 26.3. The newest build requires FokusAPI; some builds for 1.13 to 1.21.1 need no dependencies.

How wall climbing works

Stand at a wall, hold sneak, then jump. You grip the vertical surface and climb. It also works as a wall jump alternative. Every setting sits in one menu, opened with the command /function motion:menu/main.

  • Wall Climbing: jump into a vertical surface, then press sneak.
  • Quick Trigger: off by default. When enabled, a jump alone starts the climb. The idea came from ProducerMZ.
  • Custom climbing time: from release 2.0, set a bonus time with the scoreboard command /scoreboard players set $wc.bonus bonus_time. Bonus time is a number and defaults to 0.
  • Action bar: a feature you can customize from the same menu.

Installing the mod or the datapack

Pick the route that fits your setup. The mod needs a loader profile that matches your Minecraft release, so new players should read the Fabric guide or the Forge and NeoForge guide first.

  1. 1.Mod route: choose the file for your loader, then put it and any required library in the mods folder (.minecraft/mods by default). Launch with that loader's profile.
  2. 2.Datapack route: place the .zip file in the datapacks folder.
  3. 3.To remove the datapack, delete its .zip file from the datapacks folder.

For more movement tweaks, the same author makes Double Jump, which adds a double jump and leap on the sneak button.
