Dream's Compass is a Java mod and datapack for running a speedrunner vs hunters match. Once the runner starts it, every compass in the world points at them. It ships for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, plus a plain datapack. The mod is required on the server and optional on the client.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.19.4 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.19.4 to 1.21.8 require Fabric API.

Two ways to install it
Pick the mod if you already run a loader. Drop the file for your loader into the mods folder, as covered in how to install mods on Java Edition. The plain datapack is a separate download from the same project.
Starting a match
The speedrunner runs one command and the chase begins. Command names depend on the release you installed.
- Mod 1.5 and newer, datapack 1.3 and newer, use /trigger compass:dream to point all compasses at the runner.
- Use /trigger compass.compasses to hand a compass to every hunter at once.
- Mod 1.4 and datapack 1.2 use /trigger bizcub.dream instead.
- Mod 1.0 and newer, and datapack 1.0 and newer, also support /function compass:dream.
Dimension tracking
By default the compass keeps pointing at the runner even after they change dimension, which hides where they went. Run /trigger compass.update_dimension_on and hunters get a cue instead. When the runner is in another dimension, the compass spins in different directions. Run /trigger compass.update_dimension_off to switch it back.
Fabric users on older releases need Fabric API, though the newest release needs nothing.

Is Dream's Compass a mod or a datapack?
It is both. BizCub publishes loader builds for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and a separate plain datapack. They do the same job, so choose the one that fits whether you already run a mod loader.
How do I start a speedrunner vs hunters match with it?
The speedrunner types /trigger compass:dream on the newest releases, and all compasses then point at them. To give every hunter a compass straight away, use /trigger compass.compasses. Older releases use different command names.
Does the compass still work when the speedrunner changes dimension?
