Trims Overhaul is a lightweight data pack and mod that gives every armor trim a unique set of powers. It runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, or as a plain data pack with no loader at all. The server must have it, and players can optionally add the resource pack on their side.

- Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it changes
Equip a full set with one trim and its abilities switch on. Run `/trigger Trims_Menu.BLUE` to open the main menu, where you can trust certain players and read what your trim does.
The pack is built for adjustment. It can depend on an entire objective (questing) system, or you can limit who holds templates, disable specific trims, tweak ability behavior and change how hard some quests and tasks are. It is described as compatible with other data packs, resource packs and some mods, with translations in twelve languages (not perfect).
Installing the mod bundle or the data pack
Take the first file for the mod route or the second file for the data pack route.
- 1.Mod route: take the first file and drop it into `.minecraft/mods`. Our guides cover Fabric and Forge and NeoForge. The `.zip` can also be renamed to `.jar` and used directly.
- 2.Data pack route: take the second file, named like `trims_overhaul-DP_RP-vX.X.X.zip`, and drop it as-is into the `datapacks` folder of your world (`.minecraft/saves/world`).
- 3.Restart the world or server after adding the data pack. `/reload` will not work.
- 4.Resource pack route (optional): go to Options > Resource Packs, drag the same zip into the window and enable it with the arrow.
Trade-offs
This is a gameplay rewrite, not a cosmetic add-on. Every trim now carries a power, so balance and difficulty shift for everyone on the world, and the quest layer adds progress that you must protect during updates. Realms support is not built in, and the creator asks to be messaged about it.

How do I install the Trims Overhaul data pack?
Take the second file from the versions tab, the one named like trims_overhaul-DP_RP-vX.X.X.zip. Drop it unchanged into the datapacks folder inside your world folder, then restart the world or server. Using /reload does not work for this pack. The same zip can be enabled as a resource pack.
Does Trims Overhaul work as a mod on Fabric and Forge?
