Drip Sounds is a drip sounds mod from PieKing1215 for Fabric, NeoForge and Forge. It makes all water and lava drip particles use the dripstone drip sounds. It runs on the client side only.

Loaders and versions

What it changes

  • All water and lava drip particles use the dripstone drip sounds when they land.
  • Volume and sound category are configurable.
  • The rate of drip particle spawning can be adjusted.
  • The maximum range and the number of blocks that receive random animation ticks can be changed.

That last pair of options reaches well beyond drips. Random animation ticks drive many block particle effects, including smoke, falling leaves, fireflies and bubble columns. They also drive some ambient sounds, such as fire, lava and portals.

Installation

Pick the file that matches your loader and game release, then drop it into the mods folder together with Cloth Config API, which every current file requires. On Fabric, Mod Menu is optional. If you have not set up a loader yet, the guide to installing mods on Java Edition covers the folder and profile steps.

Where to get it

The creator lists GitHub, Modrinth and CurseForge as the only official sources and warns that unauthorised reposts are not monitored and could contain malware.

Questions about Drip Sounds.

3 questions

Does Drip Sounds work on multiplayer servers?

Yes, as long as you install it yourself. The mod is client-side, so it does not need to be installed on the server for it to work, and server installs are unsupported. Install it only on your own setup, and nothing extra is needed on the host you join.

What does Drip Sounds change besides drip sounds?

It adds options for the rate of drip particle spawning and for the range and number of blocks that get random animation ticks. Those ticks affect particles such as smoke, falling leaves, fireflies and bubble columns, plus ambient sounds from fire, lava and portals.

Does Drip Sounds need Cloth Config?

Yes. The newest files for Fabric, NeoForge and Forge all require Cloth Config API, so install it alongside the mod in the mods folder. Fabric also lists Mod Menu as optional. Older builds differ, so check the dependencies listed for the file you pick.
